💡 FIT PARENT TIP OF THE WEEK
Are you actually hungry in the evening… or just exhausted? 🤔 One thing I see a lot with busy parents is eating really well throughout the day, only to find themselves raiding the cupboards once the kids are in bed! Sound familiar? 😂 After a long day of work, school runs, cooking, cleaning and everything else that comes with being a parent, it's easy to mistake tiredness, stress or boredom for hunger. Here's something to try this week 👇 Before reaching for the evening snacks, ask yourself: "Am I actually hungry, or am I just looking for a way to unwind?" If you're hungry, eat something! There's absolutely nothing wrong with an evening snack. But if you're simply exhausted, try giving yourself 10 minutes to switch off first. Have a shower, make a cuppa, read a book or just sit down without your phone. And make sure you've eaten enough during the day. Skipping meals or under-eating can make evening hunger much worse. Remember, getting healthier isn't always about doing MORE. Sometimes it's about understanding your habits and making small changes. Small changes, repeated consistently, make a big difference over time. 💪 Quick question: Who else finds evenings the hardest time to stay on track with their nutrition? 👇

I think I needed this break more than I realised.
I’ve come away to Spain with my brother for a few days, and if I’m being completely open, the timing couldn’t have been much better. The last few months have probably been some of the most challenging I’ve experienced in business since COVID hit in 2020. Trying to keep three businesses moving forward when times are tough comes with a lot of pressure. There are staff relying on you, customers relying on you, bills that need paying and decisions that constantly need making. Even when you’re at home, it can be difficult to properly switch off because there’s always something going around in your head. I’m definitely not writing this for sympathy. I chose to run businesses and I’m incredibly grateful for what we’ve built. But I also think it’s important to admit when things feel hard, because I know plenty of people in this group will be feeling their own version of that pressure. As parents, there always seems to be someone or something that needs us. Work, the kids, school, clubs, the house, finances, relationships… and somewhere amongst all of that we’re supposed to find the time and energy to look after ourselves as well. Sometimes I think we convince ourselves that the answer is just to keep going. Push through it. Work harder. Get more organised. But sometimes what you actually need is a bit of space from it all. For me, right now, that’s a few days away with my brother. A chance to get out of my normal environment, have a laugh, slow down a little and hopefully come home with a clearer head. Your reset doesn’t need to be a trip to Spain. It could be an afternoon to yourself, getting out for a walk, going to the gym, seeing a mate, having an early night or just saying no to something for once. We spend so much time making sure everyone else is OK that it’s very easy to forget that we need looking after too. Sometimes taking your foot off the pedal for a little while is exactly what you need to be able to put it back down again. I think I needed reminding of that myself. ❤️

🍷 Saturday keeps knocking you off track? Try this.
Looking at this week’s poll, Saturday seems to be the hardest day for most of you to stay on track. And that makes complete sense. Meals out. Drinks. Takeaways. Kids’ plans. Seeing friends. A different routine. But here’s the important bit: You don’t need to stop enjoying your weekends to make progress. Instead, try these 5 simple things this weekend: 1. Don’t “save your calories” all day. Eat normally. Get some protein in at breakfast and lunch so you don’t arrive at Saturday night absolutely starving. 2. Get some movement in early.A workout is great, but even a decent family walk counts. Get it done before the day gets busy. 3. Choose what’s actually worth it. If you’re going out for dinner, enjoy it! But you probably don’t need the big meal, dessert, loads of drinks AND a late-night takeaway. 4. Drink some water between alcoholic drinks. Simple, but it can make a big difference to how much you drink and how you feel on Sunday. 5. Most importantly: Sunday is a new day. If Saturday goes completely off plan, don't turn it into an off-plan weekend. Have breakfast, drink some water, get outside and carry on as normal. One meal or one night out rarely ruins your progress. It's the “I've blown it now, I'll start again Monday” mentality that can. Your challenge this weekend: 👉 Enjoy Saturday without trying to make it perfect then get straight back to your normal habits on Sunday. Fitness should fit around your life, not stop you living it. 💪
