🏡 Your home environment could be making staying fit harder than it needs to be…
Here's something I've learnt from nearly 20 years in fitness… Willpower is overrated. Your environment matters more than you think. As busy parents, we're constantly juggling work, children, school runs, cooking, cleaning and everything else life throws at us. By the end of the day, our decision-making batteries are pretty much empty! 🔋 So rather than relying on motivation to make healthy choices, why not make those choices easier in the first place? Here are 5 simple changes you can make this week. 👇 1️⃣ Make healthy food the easy option. 🍎 Keep fruit visible, have a few protein-rich snacks ready and make sure there's something quick in the fridge for those chaotic evenings. If the easiest option is a decent option, you're already winning. 2️⃣ Remove the barriers to exercise. 💪 Lay your workout clothes out the night before. Keep your trainers by the door. Have a 20-minute workout saved on your phone. The fewer decisions you have to make, the more likely you are to get it done. 3️⃣ Make movement part of family life. 🚶‍♂️ A walk after dinner, kicking a football around, cycling with the kids or even a 10-minute family workout. Exercise doesn't always need to mean leaving the house and going to the gym. 4️⃣ Stop keeping your phone next to your bed. 📱 If scrolling is the last thing you do at night and the first thing you do in the morning, try charging your phone somewhere else. Better sleep habits can make a big difference to your energy, mood and motivation. 5️⃣ Plan for your busiest days, not your best days. 📅 It's easy to eat well and exercise when everything goes to plan. But what about when the kids are ill, work runs late or you're absolutely shattered? Have a backup plan. A 10-minute workout instead of 30. A quick omelette instead of cooking from scratch. A short walk instead of doing nothing. The goal isn't to make healthy living another job on your already overflowing to-do list. It's to make it fit into the life you've already got. And remember, your children are watching these habits too. ❤️

One day, these will be the good old days. ❤️
Something I've been thinking about recently... As parents, we're always looking ahead. The next holiday. The next weekend. The next milestone. The next break. And I'm definitely guilty of it and always have been! But the other day I found myself thinking about how quickly Alfie and Evie-May are growing up. They're at that age where they still want to spend time with us, still want to do things together and still think Dad is reasonably cool and funny. 😂 And then it hit me... These are the days I'll definitely wish I could have back one day. The school runs. The random conversations. The days at the beach. The silly little things that don't seem particularly special at the time (like pretending Evie’s Teddy’s have been up to no good whilst she’s been at school, or trying not to get angry at Alfie when he doesn’t pass to me on Fifa!!) It's easy to get so caught up trying to build a good life for your family that you forget you're already living one. And I think the same applies to our health and fitness. We can spend so much time worrying about how we look, what we weigh or what we haven't achieved yet that we forget the whole point of looking after ourselves. To have the energy to enjoy life.To make memories. To be able to say yes to adventures. And hopefully to be around, fit and healthy, for as many of those moments as possible. I'm certainly not perfect at any of it, but I'm trying to get better at appreciating what's right in front of me. Because one day, the ordinary Wednesday we're living today might be one of the days we'd give anything to experience again. ❤️ Anyone else finding that the older your kids get, the faster time seems to go? And any advice on how to slow it down???
