Migrating to the FilmmakingStuff Community.
Hey everyone! I think one of the challenges of the modern era is that we’re constantly being inundated with information, groups, notifications, and communities. At a certain point, more isn’t always better. I’ve really enjoyed building this group and trying to bring value to everyone here, but I’m beginning to simplify and consolidate where I spend my time and energy. With that in mind, I’ll be closing this group a few weeks after the VIP Film & TV Summit. VIP Film & TV Summit | August 30 – September 5, 2026 The good news is that I’d love for all of you to migrate over to the Filmmaking Stuff Insiders Facebook Group. I’m now part of the Filmmaking Stuff community, and I’ve received approval to invite everyone here into their private group. 👉 Join Filmmaking Stuff Insiders here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/FilmmakingStuffInsiders I believe bringing everyone together in one place will ultimately create more value, better conversations, stronger relationships, and a better filmmaking community for all of us. This group will remain open for the next few weeks, but after the Summit, I’ll begin winding it down. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this community. I genuinely appreciate you, and I hope to see you over at Filmmaking Stuff Insiders. Less noise. Better community. More filmmaking.

LAST CHANCE TO SIGN-UP FOR THE SUMMIT!
🎬 FILMMAKING FRIDAY Is the Business Side Holding Back Your Film? Talent alone will not get a film funded, distributed, or profitable. Many filmmakers understand the craft but struggle with financing, investors, marketing, rights, and distribution. That is why I created the free VIP Film & TV Summit, running August 30 through September 5, and it starts in three days. The event complements what we are doing inside FilmmakingStuff by bringing together 10+ industry experts, including Tom Malloy, for practical conversations about the business of film and television. If the business side is keeping your project stuck, register free and join us before the doors close. Why Good Films Die: Steven Lloyd-Bennett on the Distribution Problem
Making the movie is hard. Getting people to actually watch it may be harder. I recently sat down with filmmaker and entrepreneur Steven Lloyd-Bennett to talk about one of the biggest problems facing independent filmmakers today: Distribution. https://youtu.be/O-ndT72ujcg https://www.podbean.com/eas/pb-wep4k-1b44749 We got into: • Why good films still die after they’re finished • Why filmmakers need to think about audience BEFORE production • Whether you really need a massive following to make money • The problem with waiting for a distributor to “save” your movie • How direct-to-audience and social distribution could change the game • What filmmakers need to understand about the business side of their craft One of the biggest takeaways: You can’t spend years making a movie and only start asking, “Who is going to watch this?” after the final cut. The landscape is changing fast. The filmmakers who understand how to build an audience, create demand, and reach people directly are going to have a serious advantage. If you’re an indie filmmaker, producer, actor, or screenwriter trying to understand where this business is heading, you’ll want to catch this conversation. New episode with Steven Lloyd-Bennett. Now - go make your movie. https://youtu.be/O-ndT72ujcg https://www.podbean.com/eas/pb-wep4k-1b44749
