My Institute Social Transformation
Before joining The Institute Social, I struggled as a baseball instructor. I didn't have sales experience, and I was uncomfortable talking about money. I didn't have any system in place that helped me follow up with people without feeling salesy. In general, I was unorganized and left things entirely up to chance. Now I'm able to make enough money from lessons to fully support myself... only working part-time! Sales conversations are easy for me now, and I convert free trial lessons at a much higher rate. My instructor command center makes it really easy and simple for me to follow up with all of my families, ensuring that I'm not leaving money on the table. Notion has also been really great for me organizing all of my content that I create for social media. Thank you @Gilbert Urbina for all the help; the Institute Social has helped me more than I could have ever imagined!

Lessons
I wanted to share a quick win from going through the onboarding. One of the things Gilbert talked about was reaching back out to past clients instead of always trying to find brand new ones. I went through some of my old contacts and sent out the message he recommended. I ended up booking 6 lessons from it. I’m pretty old school with this stuff and don’t use a lot of systems or technology, so it was nice having something simple I could actually use right away. Still working through the rest of the training, but that alone was a good win for me.
Quick bottleneck check for your lesson business.
A lot of instructors think the answer is always: “I need more students.” Sometimes that is true. But a lot of the time, the bigger problem is that the people already showing interest are falling through the cracks somewhere in the process. Here are the five places I would look first: 1. Inquiry A parent asks about lessons… But the conversation stays buried in a DM, text, or missed call. There is no clear follow-up and no next step. 2. Booking You reply… But the parent still has to figure out what to do next. No link. No clear time options. No simple booking step. Every extra decision creates more friction. 3. First Lesson They finally book… But expectations are unclear. They do not know where to go, what to bring, what happens after the lesson, or what the next step will be. 4. Continued Lessons The lesson goes well… But nobody actually asks: “Do you want to get the next few sessions on the calendar?” A good lesson does not automatically turn into a recurring student. You still need a clear next step. 5. Renewal / Reactivation They finish their lessons… And then you wait for the parent to reach back out. Weeks go by. Now a family that already knew you, trusted you, and paid you is gone because nobody followed up. That is a lot of lesson income sitting inside simple follow-up. Your move today: Do not try to fix your entire business. Pick the stage that feels weakest right now: 1 — Inquiry 2 — Booking 3 — First Lesson 4 — Continued Lessons 5 — Renewal / Reactivation Then take one real family sitting at that stage and give them a next action. If your Instructor Command Center is already set up, add a Next Action Date. If it is not set up yet, keep it simple: Open your Notes app and write: Family name → Next action → Date I’m doing it Example: Martinez Family → Text about next lesson → Thursday That is it. Do not overcomplicate this. One family. One next action. One date. Comment 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 with the stage you are fixing first.
