Bookkeeper vs CPA
As a bookkeeper your main job is to organize the books for your client. You categorize transactions, match receipts, and reconcile the bank statements.
You do this so:
  • Your client can focus on running their business
  • They can see throughout the year where they stand financially
  • They can hand an organized set of books off to the CPA at the end of the year to file taxes
The CPA handles all things tax related, not you.
You don't have to worry about not know all the tax laws or not being as knowledgeable as a CPA, because that's not your job.
Now, is your job very important and do you need to know all about debits, credits, assets, liabilities, and equity? YES
You are a bookkeeping professional who takes their job very seriously. You make sure your clients books are accurate and up to date at all times and you take pride in your work!
That is why you are here!
One step at a time we are going to take you from "I think I can do this..." to "I know I can do this!"
Eventually you will be able to offer more of an advisory role for your clients but that grows with time.
For now, just focus on being efficient and organized and your clients will love you!!
Let me know below if this helped clear up your expectations of what a bookkeeper does?
