Great First Call, Thanks to those who joined :)
Was great to have a quick chat with some of you on the call about what you would like to work on and your ambitions to become full time artists!
Couples don't know what a 40x50 canvas means.
A common but understandable mistake we see artists make all the time is separating packages by size. Couples don't know what a 40x50 canvas means. They've never owned one. Most artists separate their packages by canvas size, logical to an artist, invisible to a couple. What a couple can picture is their day: a portrait of just the two of them, a painting with parents and the ceremony backdrop, a canvas that captures the whole room. Shout-out to Maisy, who rebuilt her packages around what's captured rather than size: https://theweddingpainters.com/listings/live-wedding-painting-by-maisy/. Couples now self-select the one that matches their wedding. She's one of the best performers on theweddingpainters.com, and this is one of the reasons why. Check out the lesson Jack did on this here. Open your listing or look at your offers. Do any of your packages still lead with a size or dimension first? Share your thoughts below :)

Quick one on video calls with clients 📹
Been meaning to share this for a while. When a couple jumps on a call with you, they're not just sizing up the painting, they're picturing what working with you is actually going to be like. A messy room in the background does more damage than you'd think, even if the work itself is brilliant. Doesn't need to be a studio, just needs to look like you've thought about it. Few easy wins: - Same spot every time, ideally with a bit of your work visible behind you - Tidy the frame, not the whole room - Face a window if you can, good light does a lot of heavy lifting - Plain and calm beats busy and full It's a small detail but big impact, If you've already got a setup you're happy with, drop a photo below, it'd be good to build up some real examples for anyone just getting started. Kind regards Huw
New module live: How To Differentiate Yourself.
Most artists compete on the two things couples can already see on every listing: style and price. That's the wrong race to be in. It almost always ends in a discount war, and it means the couple's decision comes down to who has the best portfolio display and who costs less. A coin toss, not a choice. It's not just the artwork couples remember, it's the artist who painted it. The ones who get chosen for a different reason have one thing in common. They've given couples something to remember them by that isn't just the artwork. A personalised 'About' video that doesn't look like an interview. An offer to include a loved one who couldn't be there. Something unique to them or their style that no other artist can replicate. None of it requires new skills. In most cases it's something you're already capable of, just never said out loud. And once you offer it, the couple isn't weighing you against everyone else on style and price anymore. They're just choosing you. Three lessons in the new module cover how to make an 'About' video without it looking like a LinkedIn interview, the most meaningful add-on we've seen couples respond to, and how a single unique offer takes you out of the price comparison entirely.
