One thing authors often overlook when marketing their books is 𝗨𝗚𝗖 — 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿-𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁. UGC is essentially someone sharing their personal experience or opinion about your book. It feels conversational, authentic, and much less like a polished advertisement. Take these two videos I recently created for 𝗠𝗼𝗺, 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗶𝗿 and 𝗗𝗮𝗱, 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗶𝗿 by @Mun-Won Chang Instead of simply saying, “Here’s a great book, go buy it,” I’m able to: 👉 Physically show the book 👉 Flip through the pages 👉 Point out details I genuinely liked 👉 Explain who I think would enjoy it 👉 Talk about why it would make a great gift That gives a potential buyer something a product description alone can't always provide: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻'𝘀 𝗲𝘆𝗲𝘀. That means someone who is already on Amazon considering your book could potentially see a real person holding it, showing the inside, and talking about their experience with it. 👀 That can be incredibly powerful at the point of purchase. Amazon specifically says approved influencer videos may be discovered on relevant product detail pages once the influencer qualifies for on-site placements. 👉 If you want a UGC style video for your book.
