October Win
I had massage training this weekend. My class partner has advanced experience with joint manipulation, and she took a look at my shoulder. She did a couple of techniques, and we both felt my arm go into its socket. She asked me if I've ever dislocated my shoulder. I told her that I had not to my knowledge- but I can tell you all that whatever she did gave me incredible relief as well as more mobility to that shoulder. I am slightly hyper mobile, so I often have injuries overlooked by medical professionals because my body is in the 'general operating range', according to their literature. I've taken it easy all weekend. I have a 21 hour drive today, and will return to my regular work-out schedule when I get back home. If anyone has any suggestions, tricks, or tips they would like to share with regards to healing from a dislocated shoulder, I am all ears. I don't know that this is exactly what I am dealing with, but I do know that I want to be able to do chin-ups again.

Still at it...tiny steps forward
Well it's been rough. Elias (2 yrs) is back to waking and screaming through out the night and waking sometimes at 4:30 am for the day! I try to push through to do my workouts but it ain't pretty. Everything is sore. I have lost a lot of muscle over the last 1.5 yrs due to Elias. I'm stubborn and I am not giving up or in. I can't stand the overweight and feebleness I see in older adults when I am out. Sorry, I know everyone has there own issues, life story and all of that. I just do not want the hunched-over shoulders, not being able to do heavy lifting, etc. But man, is it ever tough as you get older. I want my strength back and my core strength. Been relatively consistent with workouts.

Do you ever try to use him as weight with your workouts?

Have you ever taken a look at what shifting weights can do for the little muscles around the spine? My favourite weight, ever in life, is my little friend Topato. I call him that because I treat him like a sac of potatoes. He is a (not so little anymore) autistic 6 year old who is entirely non-verbal. This weekend I got to see him, and did deadlifts and swings with his very unwilling to stay still chunk of humanness. He loved it! Topato is a force to be reckoned with.
We're Gonna Learn About PEPTIDES 🧪
It's been decided. Our next workshop will be about PEPTIDES 💥 These are the clever little molecules that run the show in our bodies. You know one already - INSULIN INSULIN is a peptide HORMONE. All they are is chains of proteins that do stuff all over the body. The reason why we're going to look at them and learn as a community is because they're exploding in popularity due to the fact that WEGOVY or OZEMPIC are GLP-1 agonists which is a PEPTIDE! Veterans are being prescribed them left right and center. What are the benefits, the costs and the actual science surrounding them? That's what we're gonna cover. THIS WORKSHOP is FREE to everyone in the VGFAF and TEMPERED communities. WHEN: Oct 23rd, noon EST WHERE: Google Meets Let me know in the comments that you want to attend and I'll send you the sign up link. 👇

@Dave Morrow There needs to be 👎option for responses, in addition to the thumbs up and reply on this app. I'm officially disappointed, and was looking forward to Ms. Sweeney joining us.
Can't Hurt Me: Pete Counts Every Walk as a Win
@pete-carlos-9142 got news that he may need an SI joint fusion on his right side. His response: "You're not done living yet!" He weighed it honestly. The upside is possible relief from constant back pain. The downside is time laid up, then physio. Then he made a call. He wouldn't sit at home asking "why me?" He'd get out and walk. His rule from here: every day he's able to get out and do his walks is a win, until the day he goes under the knife. He says he loves walking and hiking, and puts it down to being Infantry. That's how you handle a setback. You don't wait for the surgery date to start acting like someone worth rebuilding. You take the one thing you can do today and you do it. You're not broken. You're under-recovered. Pete's showing what that looks like when the news isn't what you wanted. Pete, we're with you. Keep stacking those walks.
