Still at it...tiny steps forward
Well it's been rough. Elias (2 yrs) is back to waking and screaming through out the night and waking sometimes at 4:30 am for the day! I try to push through to do my workouts but it ain't pretty. Everything is sore. I have lost a lot of muscle over the last 1.5 yrs due to Elias. I'm stubborn and I am not giving up or in. I can't stand the overweight and feebleness I see in older adults when I am out. Sorry, I know everyone has there own issues, life story and all of that. I just do not want the hunched-over shoulders, not being able to do heavy lifting, etc. But man, is it ever tough as you get older. I want my strength back and my core strength. Been relatively consistent with workouts.

Remember minimum effective dose strategy. When stress is high opt for body weight resistance at low intensity. So long as you have some stimulus, your muscles won't atrophy. We're built to maintain muscle to survive. You may lose strength but not muscle. Hope that helps.
October Win
I had massage training this weekend. My class partner has advanced experience with joint manipulation, and she took a look at my shoulder. She did a couple of techniques, and we both felt my arm go into its socket. She asked me if I've ever dislocated my shoulder. I told her that I had not to my knowledge- but I can tell you all that whatever she did gave me incredible relief as well as more mobility to that shoulder. I am slightly hyper mobile, so I often have injuries overlooked by medical professionals because my body is in the 'general operating range', according to their literature. I've taken it easy all weekend. I have a 21 hour drive today, and will return to my regular work-out schedule when I get back home. If anyone has any suggestions, tricks, or tips they would like to share with regards to healing from a dislocated shoulder, I am all ears. I don't know that this is exactly what I am dealing with, but I do know that I want to be able to do chin-ups again.

That's a massive win. Thanks for sharing. I never dislocated my shoulder but i've seen enough to know they're not fun.

Oops - Sober October Check Friday/Monday Check in.
I was so impressed with the Quebec Veteran Foundation's fundraiser and hanging with fellow VGFAF member @Marie-Noel Duhaime that I completely forgot to post the Friday Check In. Over $250k raised for the beauty of an organization (they're ones that subsidize the ATHENA Program FYI). But they're the only ones left looking after our WWII heroes in Canada. Here I'm posing with city councillor and recently qualified, Sterling Downey and if you're a Canadian GWOT veteran, you know Uncle Walt. Next time, I'll have to take a shot with Marie Noel too. The Quebec Veteran Foundation is the only charity going to bat for CAF veterans to ensure they're long-term health is taken care of. It's also one of the only ones actually run by a veteran and VGFAF member @Jon Audet Stay tuned for more collabs between the my new H2K Foundation and them in the future. That's all to say, make sure to check in. Two weeks to go!

Dimensions Retreats
Hello, I mentioned this in a comment and Dave said he'd like to know more so I will attach a link to there web site and than a light summary of my time there.. https://www.dimensionsretreats.com/ I have attended a dimensions retreat twice, once in 2023 and 2026, I am currently attending the 45 week portion which is group therapy. My first visit was empowering, knowing the weight, alot of it wasn't mine to carry, my back pain reduced considerably. There is a machine, the Bio Bed, I discribe is as a hospital type bed with a 40000 dollar stereo under it! Its literally a 40000 dollar system and the only one in Canada. You lay on the bed, you have a eye covering, heating pads where ever you need or want, and headphones for the guided meditation portion, as you're being guided the bed starts to vibrate with sound waves, frequencies. Fuck a duck! My first time omg! I wanted to bail, I lost control of my body, hands locked up, legs started to thrash! Than I focused and I was able to control and sort through my traumas. Amazing! They don't advertise this part as they cannot legally, but the ceremonys you attend you use Cannibus to get into your subconscious. I say its where they, my conscience and subconscious can sort out how I can move forward lol. The food Michelin level cuisine! And they do everything possible to make your meals adjusted properly to your individual needs, like myself I have IBSd thanks mefloquine! Ya im apart of that too. But back to dimensions. So first time I settled my combat, tour and career issues, this current time I went focused on my childhood as well thats another layer that added to the military ptsd and other issues. In-between my dimension Retreats I went and had ayahuasca ceremonies, these are fucking powerful and your ego gets kicked to the curb. With Cannibus along at my second retreat I had that same level of insite. Clarity, etc. They teach you about nutrition, somatic therapy so much. Im happy to answer anything if im able to,and that I haven't mentioned here.
