Day 24/56 - Your First 56 Days Challenge 🇺🇸
Good morning, everyone! Look how far you’ve come! Today is already Day 24 of Your First 56 Days! 🎉 Today’s challenge is all about your last vacation! Tell us about your trip, where you went, what you did, and your favorite memories. Pay close attention to the past tense verbs you use. 💡 A little pronunciation tip: Past tense verbs ending in -ED are one of the biggest challenges for Brazilian English learners. If you’re unsure how to pronounce a word, type it into Google followed by pronunciation and listen carefully. I hope you enjoy my video, and I can’t wait to watch yours! Let’s keep practicing, speaking, and growing together. I’ll see you in the comments

@Larissa Maria Prado Coelho I love a good small town. I don’t know if it’s because I grew up in the city that makes me appreciate smaller towns so much, but I would love to move to a small town someday. There’s just something about them that feels so peaceful and cozy, and I really love that feeling.

@Renata Cordeiro I really enjoyed your video! When pronouncing “Venice,” the final “e” is silent, so you would say “VEN iss” rather than pronouncing the “e” at the end. Instead of saying “historical builds,” you would say “historical buildings.” We use “buildings” when talking about structures, especially when describing the architecture and history of a place. Your trip sounds so memorable! I would love to visit Italy one day. It looks like such a beautiful country with so much history and culture to explore. By the way, what are you watching on your TV?
Day 44/56 - Your First 56 Days Challenge 🇺🇸
Good morning, everyone! Today is Day 44 of Your First 56 Days! It’s hard to believe we’re getting so close to the finish line! 🎥Your challenge: Today, we’re talking about something personal: the biggest disappointment you’ve ever had in your life. Think about a difficult experience, a broken friendship, an unmet expectation, or a moment when someone let you down. Talk about what happened, how it made you feel, and what you learned from the experience. Remember, the goal isn’t to tell a perfect story. It’s to practice expressing your thoughts and emotions in English with more confidence and clarity. Your mission today: 1. Record a 60–90 second video. 2. Post it in our community and encourage others. 3. Comment on at least one other video. Consistency today. Fluency tomorrow. 🇺🇸 I’ll be posting more details about this weeks lesson with teacher @Joe Musgrave soon!

@Marcia Saiter I really enjoyed your video! Instead of saying “our kids kind of grew together,” you would say “our kids kind of grew up together.” The correct word is “grew,” which is the past tense of “grow.” We use “grew up” when talking about how someone developed from childhood. Instead of saying “she kind of jealous,” you would say “she was kind of jealous.” We need the verb “was” because we are describing how she felt in the past. I hope you and your friend can become close again. It is hard when friendships change, especially when you have shared so many memories together. I hope you can find your way back to that closeness. Also your hair looks great! :)
Day 43- Your First 56 Days Challenge 🇺🇸
Good morning, everyone! It looks like everyone is having a pretty busy week, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop working on our challenge. We’re getting closer to the finish line, so let’s keep going! Today’s challenge 🎥 What would you do if you won one million dollars? Imagine you just won one million dollars! What would you do with the money? What plans would you make? Would you help your family or donate to a cause? Would you buy a house, travel the world, or invest in your future? Get creative and talk about what you would actually do in this situation. Record a video speaking naturally and post it here in the community. Remember, a little bit of English every day makes a difference. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to keep practicing. Consistency today, fluency tomorrow! Let’s do this! 🇺🇸💪🏻

@Marcia Saiter I really enjoyed your video! Instead of saying “a million dollar,” you would say “a million dollars.” We use “dollars” in the plural when talking about an amount greater than one dollar. Instead of saying “do some investment,” you would say “do some investing.” “Investing” sounds more natural when talking about the general activity of putting money into something to help it grow. I agree that a million dollars isn’t as much as it might seem, especially with how expensive things are these days, but it would definitely help relieve some stress. It would be nice to have that extra financial security.
Day 42/56 - Your First 56 Days Challenge 🇺🇸
Good morning, everyone! Welcome to Day 42 of our 56-day challenge! If you’re a new member who hasn’t started the challenge yet, today is a great day to jump in. And if you’ve been participating, it’s a great day to get back on track and keep going. We’re getting closer to the finish line, so let’s not lose momentum now! Your Challenge 🎥 Today, we’re talking about something we’re really good at. Your challenge is to talk about a skill or something you do really well, explain how you got to that level, and share what you do to keep improving. Remember, being good at something doesn’t mean you stop learning. There’s always room to grow! Let’s keep living by our motto: Consistency today, fluency tomorrow. I hope you all have a wonderful day, and I can’t wait to watch your videos and read your comments! 🇺🇸

@Marcia Saiter I really enjoyed your video! Instead of saying “I’m good on that,” you would say “I’m good at that.” We use “good at” when we are talking about something we are skilled at doing. I’m so proud of you for noticing that you could have used the word “at.” Recognizing your own mistakes is a great way to improve your English! Instead of saying “it’s very satisfying when I got at some house,” you would say “it is very satisfying when I arrive at a house.” We use “arrive” when talking about reaching a destination, and “arrive at” is the natural expression when referring to a specific place, such as a house. I sometimes clean houses too, and it is a lot of work! What a testament to how well you do your job that you have retained clients for 20 years! That is amazing. You must provide excellent service for your clients to trust you for so long.
Day 41/56 - Your First 56 Days Challenge 🇺🇸
Good morning, everyone, and happy Friday! 🇺🇸 Welcome to Day 41 of our 56-day challenge! I can’t believe we’re already here. Congratulations on completing another week and making it this far! For today’s challenge, we’re going to practice giving advice in English. Imagine a friend comes to you because they just found out their partner cheated on them. What would you say? Take a look at the lesson script, try to use some of the recommended expressions, and watch my video for an example. Now it’s your turn to put your English to work! A big thank-you to everyone who joined our food class with April yesterday! I posted the class materials here, and I’ll have the recording available in the Recorded Live Lessons folder by Monday. Tomorrow, we have another live session with me! We’ll be talking about pronunciation, homophones, and some useful tips to help you sound more natural. Add it to your calendars: Saturday, Oct 10th 12pm (Brasília time) - 8 am (Las Vegas time) We’re getting closer to the finish line, so keep showing up and giving it your best. Remember, consistency today, fluency tomorrow! Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! ❤️

@Isabela Bezerra Jorge I really enjoyed your video! Instead of saying “thinking in you,” you would say “think about you.” In English, we use “think about” when we are talking about someone who is on our mind or when we are considering someone. Instead of saying “don’t let your emotion take you for a wrong step,” you could say “don’t let your emotions guide you in the wrong direction.” We use “emotions” because we are talking about feelings in general, and “guide you in the wrong direction” is a more natural way to describe feelings influencing your decisions. I love the advice you gave, especially the part about not letting our emotions make decisions for us. That is such a great life lesson! Sometimes we need to take a step back, think things through, and make decisions with a clear mind.
