Hello guys I hope all is well, so recently I came up with the idea of putting my phone in the Goal and record my performances for you guys as the keeping community to help me improve my game. Please vote in the poll below to help me decide whether I should go through with this. Love yall 💙

I film all Cameron’s games but we’re lucky enough to have a club with sports cameras to capture the footage. It’s an invaluable training aid, particularly for me as although I’m his first team coach I’m not a goalkeeping coach but I can share the footage with his GK academy team to help his development. In short, agree with @Xavier Stark it’s a great development tool but invest in a tripod and put it behind the goal - safer for you and your phone!

Great Pre Season Camp Today!
Cameron is all fired up for the U10s season - excellent camp run by ex Fulham pro Coach Enrico. Blew the summer cobwebs away and got Cameron’s gloves warmed up!

Cameron’s warm up is always the same. Decent breakfast, we review his GK diary together and talk about three things we want to focus on during the game from previous learning. I coach his first team but I’m not a GK coach but got his academy GK coach to spec the pre game warm up. We start with footwork & catching drills (high & low), cross collection, 121 blocks and distribution, from floor, hands and throws. We specifically do NOT let the team take shots at him as part of the warm up. Just coaches. Seems to work well at the moment 🤞⚽️

@Kelly Warren hi Kelly we’re also new to this community. My son is currently playing at U10s in our regional league & has been in a GK academy for 2 years. What level is your daughter playing at and what tips/feedback would be most helpful?

@Kelly Warren anyone playing in goal is an absolute hero in my book. I was a striker many years ago and cannot conceive of the physical and psychological bravery these kids training to be goalkeepers have. Cameron is the same as your daughter, he gets very hard on himself when he lets a goal in. We recently played a tournament at Hawley FC. First game we played an academy side from Surrey and it was like a rerun of the last stand at the Alamo! They scored from a wonderful free kick in the last minute. Cameron was in tears as he thought he’d let his team down. We always tell him to remember the opposition have to get past every one of your mates before they even get to try to beat you so we win and loose as a team and we learn from errors not dwell on them. He had a fruit shoot dusted himself off and went four games with a clean sheet to help his team win the tournament, including saving a penalty in the semis. Sometimes the rewards for bravery and perseverance come quick! Keep your daughter’s chin up she’s a hero for putting on the gloves even before a ball gets kicked.
