Last week, I shared that God has positioned me to influence my family and church community. My life experiences have uniquely equipped me for this role as the matriarch of my family. The concerns within our community weigh heavily on my heart, as I carry the responsibility for every decision made. The specific breach or disorder I see within the gate are lack of leadership, compromise, and spiritual decline. As a teenager, I began asking many questions about God and the significance of having a relationship with Him, viewing salvation as essential to life. Unfortunately, my curiosity often frustrated the adults around me, who perceived my inquiries as rebellion and disrespect. As a result, I compromised my beliefs and went along with things that didn’t resonate with me or that I didn’t fully understand. I felt like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole, and in the process, I lost much of my spiritual passion. My spiritual decline created a significant breach. When I first repented and embarked on my journey, I was like a sponge—eager to serve, ask questions, pray, and lead in the choir whenever there was a need. Unfortunately, leadership often regarded me as a "babe in Christ," and instead of encouraging my thirst for knowledge, my enthusiasm was dismissed. This was disheartening, and as I sought a place to belong and worship freely, I became increasingly disappointed with the church. Gradually, I found myself making excuses to skip services and avoid volunteering. I have taken steps to restore order within my gate by enrolling in classes that deepen my understanding of God’s calling for my life. I’ve reignited my prayer life, dedicating time to intercede for both myself and others. Additionally, I recognize the need to attend services in person more regularly, beyond just once a month. I am determined to remove the self-imposed obstacles and barriers that have hindered my engagement.
