SOTE — Amouage Beach Hut Man
Last night I went to see Roger Daltrey in concert, and for the evening I went with Amouage Beach Hut Man. This ended up being a perfect concert fragrance. Beach Hut Man opens with that sharp green mint, ivy and herbal freshness, but it is not a light summer freshie. As it develops, the woods, vetiver, patchouli and that slightly smoky Amouage character start coming through and give it some real backbone. What I like about Beach Hut Man is that it smells masculine, confident and a little rugged without trying too hard. It has freshness, but there is enough darkness underneath it to keep it interesting. For an evening rock concert, that combination just worked. And performance was exactly what I wanted. It projected enough that I could smell it around me throughout the evening without feeling like I was wearing something obnoxiously sweet or overpowering in a crowd. Roger Daltrey still brought that unmistakable rock-and-roll presence, and Beach Hut Man felt like the right fragrance to go along with it — old-school masculine attitude with enough refinement to still feel modern. Sometimes the fragrance really does become part of the memory of the night. Amouage Beach Hut Man. Excellent choice for this one.

@Mike Penzenik Lon doesn’t have to get close and personal for people to smell him coming 😂
Boadicea the Victorious - 1907
Indulge me if you please... Here's my 1907 journey after 36 hours: I got it at a good price from a reputable online retailer knowing that I really don't want another mango frag but I kept hearing great things about this stuff, and I sampled it before with a vague memory of it. At first I was VERY disappointed because it was simply God of Fire or Ophidian Mango Bliss or Feu or Omotesando Tsuyu or whatever, even though there's no mango note listed. The retailer was willing to take it back and I had it all packed up ready to go back, but I continued to read and smell it on the strip and compared... After 3 hours, I was still pissed with my purchase. After SIX hours on paper, things started to change. I cancelled my return and continued to observe. Now after 36++ HOURS I get it. This is NOT simple stuff. This ain't no mango frag. This is a warm and spicy and cinnamon complex in only the best way possible. And I'm guessing that I'm not catching everything yet. I'll need more time with this one, but it's not for the guy (or girl) that's going to spray it and in 15 minutes, make up their mind. I have a number of bottles from this House, but this one requires some time to get to know. It's quite remarkable - which is why I'm remarking! That's all I got for now. Oh BTW, thanks go out to @Lon Chaneyfield for his help with this one too.👍

I really enjoyed this post because it highlights the complexity of this fragrance as well as the house overall. Most fragrances are smelled on strip within a few seconds or spraying. While it’s good for initial impression, it doesn’t give you time to understand the whole fragrance. 1907 especially, is so much more nuanced than Vulcan Fue or God of Fire. I love this one.

@Steve Louis I am, you as well!
What is your favorite Tom Ford fragrence, and why?
I'm a relative newbie, but I am curious about this group of fragrances. Please offer your best, most sincere advice for a 65-year-old father and grandfather who may be back on the market in the next year or so...

I would say Rive d’ Ambre but it’s discontinued 😢
Authenticity
Out of sheer curiosity, is anyone else bothered by the increased use of an AI chatbot being used here? I’m not sure where I stand on it and would appreciate hearing y’all’s opinion on it. On the one hand, I appreciate the increased engagement, but on the other hand it feels very disingenuous. Like the board is running on AI autopilot and there’s no real interaction. I deal with AI slop on a regular basis and have seen good friends get let go and personally lost opportunities to the use of AI automation in place of human interaction. Let’s keep the comments respectful, but I’d love to hear y’all’s opinions and have some discussion about it. I’d love to hear from @Antonio O. Centeno and his @Antonio Cent team as well. Maybe they can shed some light on if they are using a chatbot and why and address some of the issues we are having.

Yeah I think it’s worse than a lack of engagement with the forum. An AI bot that regurgitates the post is just about as inauthentic as it get and makes me want to just delete my user now.
Reconnecting and New Fragrances
I stepped away from the forum for a while but remained casually engaged. Occasionally, I read posts and comment but I haven't been posting myself. I am surprised and disappointed in the decrease in engagement on the board but I am looking forward to rebuilding my connections. That said, here are my most recent full bottle pickups. It's been so long since I posted I am pretty sure that some stuff is missing. My recent purchasing declined for a couple of reasons; first, I have shifted from a full blown acquisition mode to consolidation with less blind buys and random purchases. 10 ml decants is the primary method for trying new fragrances. But these are the bottles that I felt were worth acquiring: 1. Falcon Leather Extrait (very excited to wear this in fall and winter) 2. Lunar Vetiver (bought because it got rave reviews and I got it for $60.00). Trying to like it. 3. Uden, consistently one of my top 3 fragrances and the only back up bottle I have ever bought. 4. Blue Panda by Alexandria, because I was not going to pay $600 for the original. The second reason my purchasing fell is that The Parfums just won't deliver the stuff that I order. I now set a 5-week timeframe for cancelling late deliveries.
