The economy is eating the planet
There are lots of suggestions about legal protection for trees being the way forward. My position is it’s part of the solution but cannot be relied upon. Our economy is a story of infinite growth and our planet is finite, so my position is that we will continue to lose trees to feed the economy until we account for the economic value of the natural world. This is happening in New Zealand, we removed general tree protection in 2012 and have lost massive amounts of canopy since then. Now, the government is doubling down and going after our most special protection - notable trees. To me, the problem is financial, interested to hear your thoughts.

Im in the northeastern US. We have little to know protection and the majority of companies focus remove first mentality. It sucks and personally I also just fond it to be a stupid business model. You can only remove a tree once. Gonna be 80 yrs before you get to do it again.
