Nice!
A reason to celebrate!
Almost 4 months to the day after losing my 18+ year IT job, I received an offer I'm accepting. As it happened I was already planning on killing some time at a hat shop in Boston that looked worthwhile. Ended up walking out with two caps that should serve me very well in my first New England Fall/Winter... I know this isn't watch related but I figured you guys would like the update!

WOTD - the carrot watch
This life is not for everyone but living rurally and being able to walk into your garden and pick a bunch of carrots is one of the most rewarding things for me. I just happened to be wearing the ascent GMT while doing it. As you can see home grown rarely looks like what you find in store.

Haha nice!
Field Watch Friday
Although not the most rugged watch offered by Garmin, the Fenix line is arguably the most well rounded. I’ve really enjoyed the variety of dials I’ve been able to find, as well as the patina on the metal bezel.

For the Field
Another Vostok offering in a field watch. The Komandirskie 744 Hexagon mechanical watch. Again an in-house anti-shock balance (Vostok 2414A) movement, a 40 mm titanium coated brass or steel case, 20 m WR, date window at 3, bi-directional bezel, luminous markers that are o.k. and a 36 hour power reserve that again is closer to 30 hours actual use. Average cost around $85 US. The strap is a Russian version of the NATO style.
