Boston Scally - DC Collaboration
My new Boston Scally - DC caps came today. Nice look for an adult while bringing the child out of you. The Superman with dust bag and collector pins. Stylish for the new room and strong enough to the Man of Steel. The Batman with dust bag and collector pins. Sophisticated enough for Bruce Wayne and black enough for the Dark Knight. The Two-Face with dust bag and double sided collector coin. Show of your duality with the sleek and uniformed good side, then show of you mixed up wild side.

@Alex Kilpatrick yea. I was more of a DC guy as a teenager. Mainly bc Marvel was always or at least frequently so inter twined they would leave me hanging or referring to episodes of other series. Second only to Batman I was a big Spider-Man comic. Remember sitting at the drugstore re reading Spider-Man 2 over and over (wish o had that one). The 70’s Batman’s with Dennis O’Neil were great and the Kirby move to DC with Mister Miracle and all the New God stuff was very interesting. (I have a Jimmy Olson original that inspired George Lucas for both Darth Vader Darkseid and Darth Maul). But my other favorite marvel character was Iron man. Saw that movie 3x at the theatre. Loved the first Thor movie.

@Alex Kilpatrick the whole modern marvel universe is very impressive. Agree that the take on capn America was incredible. In fact I liked all of the takes on hero’s except a couple. That whole process was the perfect storm, driven in my opinion by a studio on its heels, An actor who also was in his heels, and an un believable team of producers and directors. Felt like the magic started to slip when the Disney deal went through.
Global James Bond Day
I was working on a project trying to pinpoint the moment in time menswear started this absurd fit in suits and sportcoats. And Ash over at the Chaps Guide let us know that 64 years ago today Dr No was released so I thought I would go ahead and post my research. Most every one attributes this odd fit business to Tom Ford’s work with costuming James Bond and that is probably correct. Casino Royale (the Daniel Craig version) came out in 2006. But that first movie I believe was a Bironi suit. It looks pretty correct in proportion to me. I looked at another big movie franchise rebooted one year earlier than Casino Royale: Christian Bales’s Batman. Both Bale and Craig are in incredible shape so it’s not the fitness of the guy that’s different. It’s the cut of the suit. By the sequel, Quantum of Solace (2008), Ford was brought in and since that time the Bond suits got tighter and tighter and shorter and shorter. As early as 2008 when Tom Ford did the sequel Quantum of Solace you can see the operable button and the suit skirt beginning to creep up. I know I sound like a broken record. But I just happened to be watching these movies recently and made an effort to try and discover the origin and time line of this weirdness in menswear. Stores didn’t adopt this fashion change immediately but I would guess the switch came about within 10!years of that second Craig movie. In Casino Royal things were still pretty normal- The tux (excellent proportions) and the two following pics, front and back show a well proportioned blue Bironi suit which were taken from Casino Royale. Compare that to the next two Pics which are Ford designs and you should clearly see how ill proportioned they are. After QoS, the following three Craig movies (2008-2021) my guess is somewhere in the middle of these years guys started wearing this Ford odd fit as stores began to sell it as a “modern fit”. I m not going to belabor why it’s so bad again just thought this timeline might interest some guys. Before you completely write this rant off type this into Google and see what happens:

@David Walker I just messaged you on one of your other posts. I live in a small rural suburb of Tulsa and I get the hebbie jebbiez thrifting. Perhaps if I was in a large market like DFW I could find more stuff. There are some great stores that weee in the area: Marvin Brown, Cullwell and Son’s (still across from SMU) and of course my old store Harold’s Any suggestion of where to go should I venture a trip down south???

@David Walker cool thanks
Friday's driving outfit
Tomorrow, with the intense heat, I'll be keeping it cool and casual. Cream linen pants, white slub cotton henley, and cream canvas sneakers. Simple, but effective.

Still blazing hot here, so nothing fancy. Just rocking the Navy and White, with blue suede chukkas.
