What a wonderful weekend around here. Can you believe summer is almost officially over on this side of the world? And then will begin my very favorite season - FALL I like to think of fall as the season where everything falls into place. On that note - a couple things ARE falling into place around here. The first up is that I created a 9-Day Momentum Challenge IN THE CLASSROOM - #Welcome to the 9-Day Substack Momentum Challenge! 9 days to go from idea to implementation! Using what I put together in the Momentum Challenge lead to... the second thing I've got cooking is an experiment over on Substack itself - I should have the rest of it setup later this morning and will start sharing notes from there. This account is an experiment about selling real/physical as well as digital products on Substack using the perks page and will be organized as a discount club. The name is Hobo Homesteading and will be about, yeah, homesteading. 🎉🎷🎸🪨🥎🪨🎸🎷🎉 Happening Around Here This Week... Wednesday is the weekly Q&A/Social Hour at 1pm mtn - come join us for 5 minutes or the whole hour - we are very casual and there is usually a whole lotta laughing going on. Thursday is the Monetize Your Mission Mastermind and Lidia Axe from the Community Builders HQ is coming to share with us strategies for finding your first 100 members for your Skool community. We start at 2pm mtn and this is open to anyone not just those in this community - If you know friends who are thinking about starting a Skool community bring them along - the more the merrier. Feel free to share this link https://us06web.zoom.us/j/82173053137?pwd=LvWmj0jftv7dmZv7xB0lKcaarU1YHs.1&jst=2 it is not gated in any way just show up at the appointment time and join in.

So much happening with the community these days!! Love seeing everyone going live on Substack and even the most fun - popping on a life and finding other community members hanging out there too! You all are talking about fascinating things (okay, I might be prejudiced but I just love hearing what you all have to say) When you join lives somethings to consider ... Tap the heart button - though I cannot find evidence this works the same as on TikTok (signaling the algorithm) intuitively it seems like it does And commenting - typing in the comments section encourages other to join the chat and helps the hosts feel like the audience is engaged with them. (maybe you don't have to be as chatty as I am most of the time but hopping in and at least saying hello and letting them know you're there and engaged is supportive. Again, this may or may not bring more people to the live but I suspect that it helps over all. ) When you go live, especially with other content creator on Substack - Substack pushes your live to both audience in the app, in the notifications and in the email boxes of subscribers. Afterwards the shorts can live in the notes section and extend the reach even further as lives create long form content you can added to in the form of a written post on your publication. @Tracy Nicholas ' skool community Awaken Your Magic has doubled in size from going live weekly on Thursdays (at noon mtn) @Kerrie Wearing goes live on Sundays with the spiritual forecast coming up @Karen Langston goes live on Wednesday mornings (10am mtn) with her label to table messages she share with Dani

It's Wednesday and one of my favorite events of the week happens today... SOCIAL HOUR!! Okay so it's also the Q&A but I just love this hour where we all get together and chat, catch up on the happs and laugh. For me it's kind of like therapy. Everyone is welcome to join us - we meet at 1pm mtn here: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/82141442688?pwd=xJ9W2bYfTXnBptWKuoOgEH4P2enq6p.1 No rules and no recording - come for 5 minutes or stay for the hour - totally up to you. 🐦‍🔥🐘🍁🪻🦚🪻🍁🐘🐦‍🔥 Let's chat about purpose for a minute - shall we? We all created a Substack (or are thinking about creating one) for some reason - whether to simply have a place to explore and write (I know when I first started out that's what I used it for) or it's a place to organize our empire (which is how I use it now) for a reason. What is the reason for your Substack now? Have you given it some thought? I ask this because I think that it makes a difference in how to approach growing your Substack. If you're using it to organize your empire, I believe your first steps need to be to sort what you've got going on. Some organizational piles might include: What are you selling Who are you selling to What are you personally interested in How much time do you have to invest in marketing Are you introverted or extroverted (how much time can you spend with people whether in community or in video/conversation) How do you like to create long form content? I was having a short conversation in the DMs with @Vinayak Ramesh yesterday about selling stuff and creating a client journey. There are lots of ways to do this - but a very simple exercise to do while you're sorting your "goings on" is to take a piece of paper (oh yeah this is going to be old school - go grab your pen and paper or your journal or your art supplies) ... draw a line on it. Put a dot on the left of the line (where it starts) and write exactly where your ideal client is when they first know they need your solution to their problem - write down all the things they are struggling with, what are they feeling, what do they hate, what do they long for.

Wondrous Wednesday My note today is a reframe of how you describe yourself. My note https://substack.com/@proofoverperfection/note/c-317739710?r=227ipm&utm_source=notes-share-action&utm_medium=web Trying something new to increase subscriptions. Let me know what you think. My publication this week is an expansion of my note. You know what you don't want, but what are you for? https://coachcarolh.substack.com/p/you-know-what-you-dont-want-but-what?r=227ipm&utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web

Okay, whose ready for the BIG announcement over on Substack? There is a new feature being rolled out - I don't have access to this one yet - but I know people who do. It's called "automations" and it will show up in your creator tools on the dashboard of your publication. This takes Substack all the way into the autoresponder category. I've been waiting for this to happen. What it allows you to do is create follow up sequences for your subscribers. To move people from free to paid to purchasing your offers. They already introduced an option to segment your subscribers, which you can find under the subscriber section on your dashboard. Which leads us to the perk page - on the perks page you can put up the offers for your paid subscribers - the thing is that not everything on that page needs to be completely part of the subscriber offer - you can offer discounts on some of those offers. So, the process is someone becomes a paid subscriber and then they get a discount on the purchase of the other items on your perks page - you can go over here and see what I did https://hartlifecoach.substack.com/perks the 3 tools & the intensive are now for annual subscribers and instead of simply getting everything with the annual subscription, they get a discount on these - so people subscribe for the discount - kind of like Costco. And with this new feature being rolled out you'll be able to set up a follow up series to help subscribers move through the buying journey with you. I think this is going to help a lot of content creators over there - I find the tendency is to firehose people with stuff they get for being a paid subscriber - when often less is more or allowing people to move at the pace they can handle without pressuring them to open everything at once. We will be talking about this in a mastermind soon - for sure but feel free to join us on Wednesday for the Q&A/Social Hour and we can chat about it more there. 🦚🪻🦦🪴🔥🪴🦦🪻🦚

Thanks Jill, so much value coming from Substack. My note on setting your intention for the day. https://substack.com/@proofoverperfection/note/c-313292930?r=227ipm&utm_medium=ios&utm_source=notes-share-action
I Love What We Do Here
@Jill Hart Thank you for building a such an engaged and helpful community. I have learned so much about Substack through the resources in the classroom and from the other community members. What I have found most helpful is the encouragement and tips that you share daily. So glad I took the chance and followed my curiosity. My Substack is growing and I am loving the experience. If you want to build a Substack space, this is the place to learn and grow it.
