Knock knock👋🏻
Hi I’m An.I’m new here and hoping to improve my daily English. The English I use at work is a bit too formal.😅 Love horror and thriller movies, so please feel free to share your recommendations! Nice to meet you all.

Hi An. Nice to meet you virtually! I’ve watched a lot of thrillers and some horror. Most of them are series, not movies. Widow’s Bay is my recent horror favorite. I really love its staging and plot, but it could be more comedy than horror for those who seek nerve-wracking moments. What’s your recent thriller favorite?

@An Chen Obsession is definitely the horror that gets talked about a lot this year. Many people said it’s their most scary one. I’m not sure if I can handle that much of gruesomeness yet but will definitely add it to my pocket list 🫣😱
Snob。 🔥 8 out of 9 installments, let's look at 勢利: ❝ Have you ever had to deal with snobs? Snobbish ppl are those who act like they’re better than others. They evaluate people by social ranks, wealth, education or tastes in certain things. They have a false sense of superiority. Snobs only wanna hang out with people whom they think are high class. They make you feel bad about about liking different things from them because they think they know better. They would look down on you if you have a different opinion. Perhaps in a passive aggressive way like, why did you order that in this restaurant? It’s not good. Or, there’s no way people can spend less than 300k on a wedding. Or like, are you buying a house? You must be tired of a small space.❞ 關鍵字 - snob 勢利鬼 - snobbish 勢利的 - social ranks 社會地位 - taste 品味、偏好 - (a sense of) superiority 優越感;superior 優越的 - high class 高地位的、有品味的 - look down on someone 看貶某人 - passive aggressive 被動攻擊的 這種人如果沒有遇過還真難相信,以上三個例都是發生在我身上過的 😅 🎯 單字補充 以上的snob是相當負面的詞。 例如 - My cousin is a whiskey snob. He can tell what's good. 我表哥很懂威士奇,喝得出來差別 - She is a coffee snob so she won't go to Starbucks. I am not a coffee snob. I'm chill! 我才不龜毛我很隨性!(自我防衛) - I am kind of a skincare snob sometimes.

Podcast 🥳

It is a way our human brains try to make sense of the world because of our fear. 🔥 6 out of 9 installments, let's look at What does it mean? It’s people who believe in unseen forces. They believe that things in the universe are connected with ideas from their religions or belief systems. To them, unrelated things can have patterns. Superstitious people can get paranoid about luck, omens or signs. I’m gonna spitball a few examples. In the US, number 13 is bad luck while it’s the number 4 that does it in TW. They knock on wood when they don’t want to jinx something. Hockey goalies believe that if they win a game wearing this pair of socks, they WILL NOT wash them. Don’t ask me how I found out. Seeing a Cardinal means that a departed loved one has come to see you. See, on the flip side of the coin, superstition is also spirituality. Are you a superstitious person?❞ 關鍵字 - superstition (n) ; superstitious (adj) 迷信(的) - unseen forces 看不見的力量 - universe 宇宙 - belief system 信仰系統 - unrelated 不相關的 - pattern 規率、模型、格式 - paranoid 自己疑神疑鬼的(跟 suspicious 『有疑的』有差別) - omen 徵兆 - jinx 觸霉頭、招厄運* - Cardinal 此指北美紅雀 - departed loved one 以去世的親人 - spirituality 靈性 補充 *口語的 Don't jinx it 就像是「不要亂說話」;You jinxed it. Are you a religious person? I am somewhat superstitious, but I will 100% break the rules when they go against personal hygiene 🤮

@Shan Serasis Meaning if I were a hockey goalie, I would take a game loss over wearing the same pair of unwashed socks. 😆
