Introduction to me!
Hi All, nice to meet you and be a part of this community. My name is Dan. I like to think I'm reasonably experienced when it comes to e-commerce but I'm new to reselling. I ran a print on demand business that sold across Etsy, eBay, TikTok and my own Shopify store for several years which at it's peak, turned over close to £70K p/a allowing me to quit my corporate job, however, in the past 18 months I've scaled this right back due to thinning margins and the stricter seller policies on the platforms, not to mention the time it takes to create a design and get it to market. I went back in to the corporate world at the end of 2024 and stumbled upon reselling earlier this year. I did a lot of research and in June, took the plunge and ordered a £120 box from Messina to start me on my journey and since then I’ve been sniping on Vinted. I’ve sold 87 items so far this month with a profit margin of 49% and feel like things are really taking off. I reinvest every penny, I don't plan to take any money out of this till the end of 2028. My biggest challenges are identifying the right price to list at and cross-selling to eBay and Depop. Vinted has so far accounted for almost all my sales but I know it's a ticking time bomb! I've sold 6 items on eBay but other than that, I can't seem to succeed on there even with double digit promoted listing percentages and using AI to optimise titles and descriptions. It's the same for Depop, although I'm less bothered by this. Big shout out to behind the listings podcast and Sully who I’ve been following for some time! Cheers!

Vinted sourcing arriving with undisclosed flaws
Hi, I've previously excepted a few items, bought off vinted, that when they arrive they have undisclosed flaws and I'm wondering if I'm being too accepting of them. I just picked this St Michael cardigan up and it has a tiny hole in the back and a tiny tear on the suede shoulder, neither mentioned in the description. It cost me £8.03 all in. Would you accept this as ok at that price, or say there is an issue? I'm also reluctant to pay return postage, but these flaws affect my resale value. The first picture is mine showing the flaws, the others from the original listing. Interested to hear what others would do, accept it at that price or raise an issue?

Hi @Frances Fox - Virtually all my stock comes from Vinted and I'd say that I find a fault with around 10-15% of the items I order. If it's an undisclosed stain, I will try to treat it myself before raising a dispute. Damage on the other hand, is a pain! Most sellers are reasonable for fear of a poor review. I'd actually much rather have a partial refund and keep the item to re-sell at a lower cost or use as a personal item if the damage is very minor. Only once have I had an issue where the seller sent me a damaged item (hole and tear in the back of a sweatshirt) that they failed to take responsibility for simply because they listed it as 'Good' and insisted I pay for return postage. I fought it with Vinted and they ended up forcing the seller to pay return postage.
Hey 👋
Hey all 👋 Marc here, 23, full-time Vinted reseller about a year in! Mostly trainers and higher-end pieces. Started flipping for extra cash and it snowballed into my whole income. Sourcing is my strong suit, so if anyone wants a second pair of eyes on Vinted pricing or what's moving, ask away. Here to learn the eBay side from you lot 👊
