Do You Record Yourself Playing?
I do, for two reasons. 1. I'm a noodler. That is, I just mess around until I find something I like, then I build on it. When I do find something I like, recording it helps me to remember it the next day, or months later when I've moved on. 2. Playing can sound different inside your own head than it does on a recording. By recording yourself you may hear things you didn't notice while playing. It can help identify rough spots in your playing so you can improve. That's useful at every skill level. Bonus Reason: You may even discover you're doing better than you thought. 🙂

I do it for the same reason. There might be a hidden gem, 7 and a half minutes into a 10 minute recording!
Playing
What is the longest performance you ever played? Where was your mindset before and after?

We took a couple of breaks but had a 5 hour jam session, playing just about anything anyone could think of. I never thought I would ever play “Gold Dust Woman” in my entire life. By the time we shut down, I was beyond ready for it to end. 😂🤨😜
Anybody recommend a good metronome?
I've always been told to practice with a metronome. That it will ultimately make me better. I used to run lights for bands in the 80's and 90's and I used to keep the beat by tapping my foot to the drummer. I'm trying make my practicing better, so I figure I should take the recommendations of a few instructors and practice with a metronome. Anybody recommend one they are using, or have used?

I never thought I needed to work on timing until I got a looper pedal. Laying down a basic I, IV, V blues progression and playing it back, I realized I was speeding up and not knowing it! The whole time thinking I was staying on beat.
Outside the Box
when i first discovered the voicings that were available in DADGAD when approaching my fingerings from over the top. this was the 3rd song that i wrote.. and little half bends on the "B" string are also very easy from this hand position. also using a 4 string capo ( i had to cut it off LOL) SO WHO ARE YOU NOW???
