Inspired by Antonio’s recent article on pairing jeans with a men’s blazer, I decided to give this timeless combination my own spin. I strolled through my closet and paired my navy blue blazer with a crisp white Oxford shirt, dark denim jeans, and brown suede Chelsea boots for a look that strikes a nice balance between relaxed and refined. A colorful paisley pocket square (that I just thrifted for $8) adds a little personality, while my Alpina chronograph on a stainless steel bracelet brings a touch of sophistication. The result? A gentleman who appreciates dressing well but isn’t afraid to kick back, cross his legs, and enjoy a good cocktail! And yes, I used AI to provide the relaxing and aesthetically pleasing background.

Today's outfit includes the first wearing of one of my top 3 all-time favorite vintage purchases. It's a camel-hair sports jacket, but the colors suggest anything other than camel hair. It's a dark brown with a light Prince of Wales check ina light brown Glenn check and a pale blue overcheck. It is amazingly soft, very well made, well sized without tailoring, and fits a recent interest of mine: fabrics that have a default oclor or pattern but are not in that default for the item in question. I have a seersucker jacket in white with tan and gray stripes vs. the traditional blue stripes. I also received some peccary gloves in oxblood. Although there may not be a standard peccary glove color, oxblood seems antithetical for a peccary animal... Finally, I am wearing another new pocket square from Shibumi in their Japanese classic art format. I love this art format in pocket squares now. The weather is starting to cool just enough that the fall wardrobe is finally getting some proper use. Today I reached for another one of the Ben Silver sweaters I picked up in Charleston — this rust-colored quarter-zip — and paired it with grey trousers, a checked shirt, and brown shoes. The colors just felt right for October. Warmer tones. A little more texture. A little more depth. It is one of the things I enjoy about this time of year. The wardrobe starts changing and I get to fall in love with items again that I haven't seen for several months. While I'm not a fan of cold, I do enjoy the layering of clothing in the winter and trying new patterns and textures. The sweaters come back into rotation. The trousers get a little heavier. The colors get richer, and before long, the Panama will give way to the felt hats. For now, though, we are still in that in-between stretch where you can borrow a little from both seasons. I recently picked up Giorgio Armani’s I WILL, and I have to say, I’m really enjoying this one! My first wear was to church yesterday, and I received several compliments. There’s something about the warm, woody notes and subtle spices that makes it incredibly appealing, and while I can see this fragrance being a crowd-pleaser, I think it really comes alive when paired with the personality and style of the gentleman wearing it. While this fragrance has mass appeal, and is marketed as such, that’s what I love about fragrances—two guys can wear the exact same scent, yet somehow make it their own!
