Happy Tuesday! Working with my first paying B2B Strategy Blueprint client. Doing some research one a second one. Prepping for a Sales Masterclass I'm co-teaching this Thursday. Trying to keep my sanity as I work through a terrible experience migrating my GoDaddy website from their Website+Marketing tool to Airo, their AI-generating approach.

@Andrea Palten Thanks for the empathy...or maybe better, sympathy! ;-) Client came from LinkedIn. He sent a connection request which I accepted. I then reached out to him to ask why he wanted to connect. This is something I do mostly when they look like a prospect or connector, not another vendor wanting to sell me overseas BDR services or become my financial advisor. He said he reached out because he saw posts about a sales masterclass hosted by a local startup incubator. I'm co-teaching 2 of the 7 sessions. I went to the first session even though I wasn't teaching it. We talked afterwards and he decided right then that he wanted my help. The prospect I'm working on came from an event. He was a panelist and led a breakout session I was in. We all introduced ourselves, and he approached me afterwards to say he wanted to talk.

Love your approach, Andrea! As I spend less time worrying about polish and more time being myself, I'm having more fun and connecting better with prospects.
Something to ponder if you are not getting clients...
You can have really good marketing and still get ignored. That's the frustrating part. Even if your offer is hella good. And your content is super helpful. Plus your website is looking professional. And people still don't buy. WHY??!!! 😤 Because "good" isn't the same as relevant. This is one of the first things I look at when someone's marketing isn't working: Are you talking about what YOU want people to know? Or what THEY care about? Those aren't always the same thing. You want to tell me about your process. I want to know if you can solve my problem. You want to tell me about your credentials. I want to know if you've helped someone like me. You want to tell me about all 14 things your service includes. I want to know what will be different for me after I hire you. Good marketing starts by entering the conversation your customer is already having in their head. Then you can tell them everything else.

It's an old adage that may be aging out of relevance, but here it is. What's the prospect's favorite radio station? WII-FM. What's In It For Me? Just posted on this question of relevance yesterday. https://lnkd.in/p/gAW9b7Pz
Lay Off & Biz & Life Update
Four weeks ago, I got laid off. Good thing is, I didn’t decide to start a business because I lost my job, I started building my biz a little over a year ago while working my 9-5. By the time I left corporate, I had already worked with 37 clients. So instead of thinking, “Oh crap, what am I going to do now?” I was excited that I could finally go all in one the biz. Biggest gain in the 4 weeks? Time! In the last four weeks I’ve been invited to become a marketing strategy advisor for The AI Collective. I’ve been asked to speak about LinkedIn Growth at CMX and The Workaround Collective. I’m getting ready to launch an exciting new program that I couldn’t launch while working. I’ve been able to give my clients twice as much time on our office hours calls. Not because I had to. Because I wanted to. I’ve also finished 3 paintings, 2 diamond art projects, and 3 beaded plants. (Where do I put all these things in my house though????) And I spent 10 days with an awful cold, which I have lovingly named “corporate shedding.” What I’ve loved the most is that I’m no longer trying to fit my life around my job. My work now fits around my life. 🥰 I decide when to work. 🥰 I decide what I build. 🥰 I decide which opportunities I say yes or no to. 🥰 I decide when I need an afternoon to do crafts or go mountain biking. I spent a lot of years thinking freedom meant having enough money to leave corporate. I’m starting to think freedom is much simpler than that. It’s waking up in the morning and knowing your time belongs to you. Four weeks in, that might be the thing I value most. For those of you who have your business full-time, what do you value the most?

Owning my time and owning the choices for where to invest in. Whether it's wrestling with Claude and ChatGPT, prepping to present at an upcoming sales masterclass, implementing your awesome advice, Andrea, or babysitting my granddaughter, the choices are mine to make.

Hey there, I'm running a brand new program (won't have too much to do with this Skool group), but would love second set of eyeballs on my ad. First time running this ad copy for this new program which will be sold via a workshop. If you were still working in corporate, would you click on this ad? "You're not too sensitive and you're not "bad at handling stress." If you're burned out at a job where three different bosses forgot your name and you still got skipped for the promotion after doing the work anyway, that's not BECAUSE of you. That's a system working exactly as designed. Just not FOR you. I know because I lived it. Four years at a job that ran layoffs like clockwork and moved the goalposts every time I got close. I started a side hustle on the side of that mess, partly so I wouldn't be desperate if the axe ever swung my way. By the time I actually left, I wasn't taking a leap. I had 37 clients already paying me. Here's the part nobody tells you: you're not exhausted because you're not tough enough. You're exhausted because you don't own your own time. Someone else is calling the shots, cashing in on your work, and deciding when you're allowed to rest. That would wear anyone down. You were never meant to spend your career waiting for permission. You were meant to run something of your own. I'm Andrea Palten. I spent 25 years grinding from Marketing Coordinator to CMO, cutting my teeth at places like Ogilvy, Transamerica, and Camping World before building this business from inside a job that looked a lot like yours. If you're ready to see what getting out actually looks like, plus ideas on what kind of business you can do, join my free workshop, Corporate Escape Plan. Save your seat below."

I think I'd be curious about how to get clients before escaping. Yes, I would click on it.
