Day 6: Celebrating a massive win for Max! 🐾
We are celebrating how far Max has come with his training. We have been working hard on crate confidence, handling and trust and the progress is so rewarding! He is improving so much overall, with a huge credit to the whole Walkys team for helping us get here and a special mention to Haley and Eliza and Nath for their incredible knowledge, patience, support and dedication. Max's Big Wins: Crate Comfort: As you can see, he now happily hangs out in his crate and sits calmly inside. Handling & Trust: He’s also making huge strides with body sensitivity, now letting us check areas a vet normally would, like his ears, eyes, mouth, nose and legs. Building this kind of trust takes time, but seeing him this relaxed makes every second worth it 😊

Yay, great job Max! πŸ₯° I absolutely love spending time with Maxie! He’s such a sweet boy! πŸ’™πŸ’™
Day 1 Challenge 🐾
Hey everyone, it’s Frankee! 🫢 This is my sweet princess, Maia πŸ₯° She’s a Cardigan x Pembroke corgi. Maia is the HAPPIEST girl. She’s extremely loving, nurturing, and loves being the centre of attention πŸ˜‚ …And that’s exactly what I’m trying to work on with her - sharing the love with her sister! She’s only recently showing signs of dominance whenever they both want cuddles at the same time πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Loose lead walking
Is this right? I'm not sure how we went, found it kind of difficult holding lead and phone .. Jess didn't seem to notice πŸ€— Some days we just plod along next to each other and the lead will be dragging on the ground. Never thought to try to video πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ So, if this is not exactly right, super proud of Jess not reacting to barking dogs and a truck that was noisy as it went past 😍❀️ (And if I can toot my own horn ... super proud of me, first time videoing πŸ™ŒπŸΌ) Kat🐾

WHAT A LABRADOR NEEDS!
Labradors were bred as working gundogs, particularly to locate, carry and retrieve game for their handler. So fulfilment should tap into retrieving, carrying, searching, swimming and working cooperatively with a person. * 🎾 Retrieve work β€” balls, bumpers/dummies and structured fetch. * πŸ‘ƒ Scent & search games β€” hide toys or objects and send them to find them. * πŸ¦† Gundog-style retrieves β€” marked retrieves, blind retrieves and retrieves through different terrain. * πŸ’¦ Swimming & water retrieves β€” fantastic breed-specific outlet for Labs that enjoy water. * 🧸 Carrying jobs β€” teach them to pick up, hold and deliver objects to hand. * 🧠 Problem solving β€” food searches, scent puzzles and increasingly difficult retrieves. * 🀝 Handler-based work β€” heelwork, recall, directional cues, steadiness and impulse control. * 🌿 Exploration/sniffing β€” allow appropriate time to investigate the environment rather than making every walk strict obedience. * πŸ’€ Switch-off skills β€” balance drive with place, settle, crate time and learning how to come down after work. A great Labrador session Search β†’ Find β†’ Retrieve β†’ Carry β†’ Deliver β†’ Reward β†’ Settle For many Labs, simply adding more walking isn't the answer. Giving them an appropriate job that taps into what they were genetically designed to do can be far more fulfilling. And don't forget: Labs were bred to work with us. That relationship and teamwork is a big part of their genetic fulfilment.

Challenge day 1 (a day late 🀣) 🐾
Hey Walkys fambam πŸ‘‹ I’m Haley, and these are my two beautiful girls, Wednesday and Penelope! πŸΎπŸ’•Wednesday is a 6-year-old Moodle, and Penelope is a 1-year-old Toy Cavoodle. They are the greatest little girls who absolutely love life… and sometimes a cuddle when they feel like it πŸ˜‚β€οΈ They’re both professional thieves and will steal anything I accidentally leave within reach β€” socks, shoes, toilet paper… you name it! 🀣 They also strongly dislike the rain and getting their feet wet, and their favourite thing to do is bark and spy on everyone who dares to walk past our back fence πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚ (Matt, our neighbour will attest to this πŸ˜†) This is something we’re always working on, along with learning to share the affection and actually coming every time they’re called. ..they also have a whole collection of nicknames and somehow know exactly who I’m talking to β€” Say Say, Cooey, Floof, Penny Poot, Poot and P… because apparently their actual names are just a suggestion πŸ˜‚πŸ’• They keep me entertained every single day and I wouldn’t have them any other way. πŸ₯°πŸΆπŸΆπŸ’•
