Let’s talk about something painfully simple that can make a bigger difference to your business than you might think: your email address. I had a client, a roofing business where the owner’s email was something along the lines of
[email protected] Now, look… I’m not here to judge your personal life, your sense of humor, or whatever happened in 1969. But if you’re asking someone to trust you with a $15,000 roofing project, maybe don’t make them wonder whether they’re hiring a professional contractor or emailing someone they met in the comments section of a questionable Facebook post. Same as your AOL (Amateurs OnLine) password. You don’t have to give up your old email. Keep it. Use it for personal stuff. But your business deserves its own professional identity. You invested in the business. Invest in how it presents itself. Get the domain. Set up the email. Put it on your website, estimates, invoices, trucks, business cards, and Google Business Profile.
