First Marathoner Survival Guide!
Hey everyone!! I've got a Wednesday mini episode coming out this week where I'm walking through my full survival guide for running your first marathon. It's essentially five things I wish someone had told me before my own first one, pulled from a hundred plus guest interviews and my own five marathons!! I know a lot of you are deep in fall training right now, so I wanted to give you early access before Wednesday. Attached is the guide with all five tips laid out. We're talking: fueling strategy, why your easy pace matters more than you think, and why the worst runs in your training block might actually be doing you a favor. Give it a read, and I'd love to hear which one hits home for you right now!!

I just started a training block this week for my second marathon at the Williams Route 66 in Tulsa. Starting a 16 week block in August in central Texas has me questioning my life choices. I’m looking forward to my second race in March in Napa where the training will be much nicer in Texas.

@Emily Bailey I use drip drop hydration on all my long runs and lots of water. I also have a cold plunge tub on my patio that i use after runs to recover and get the core temp back down.
Coaching recommendations
I’m not sure if this is the correct venue for this but does anyone have a coaching recommendation for someone in Austin TX. I’d like to start working on a plan for a late fall/early winter race and then a spring race together.

@Taylor Ade Ideally in person but i don’t need a weekly club run or a lot of hands on work. My weekend schedule doesn’t really allow for the standard run group long runs

I use Drip drop mix in my fuel belt containers.

@Kristine Owen Wood I’ve been using it for a few years now. It tastes the best IMO and doesn’t taste like salt as some do. https://dripdrop.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoqwB5KJFZenem68HpHmYXgtS95bjpDDIc6dyjAArNqYfp6ul64o

Just got in for the Napa Valley Marathon on 3/7/2027 which hopefully will be my 3rd by the time we get there. I’m looking for a late fall race for my second. Has anyone run the Route 66 marathon n Tulsa?

Just a dude that decided he liked running in his 40s. I did long course triathlon and figured if i was ever going to do a 140.6 i needed a marathon
