Guitar Technique
Up for discussion. 1: Whats the hardest guitar technique you have learned? 2: Whats the technique you still can't quiet grasp? 3: Whats your favorite sounding guitar technique rigardless of the difficulty? For me: 1: Not sure what its called but its the double string chug/pull off tech that Adam Jones from Tool does. Specifically in the song Jambi but he does it in a few others as well. 2: Sweep picking is still something that doesn't come easy for me. 3: Tap/pinch harmonics are my favorite. Especially with low tunings/low chug notes behind them. The drastic pitch change back and forth is excellent. Example riff would be main riff from Stitch by Wage War🤘🏻

@Victor Penniman exactly. I have been practicing a couple of songs since around March when I bought the Gibson app. Tuesdays gone, oh daddy, and helpless and hoping. I practice scales for a while and then switch to the songs. I have improved my playing more in the last 6 months than in the previous years of just strumming to other people’s lead.

@Jason Chambers when I first started to learn I was ten years old. My older cousin tried to get me to learn right handed. It was extremely difficult to do so I switched to left handed off the bat.
Slacker
I feel like a slacker. I practiced scales for 30 minutes. C pentatonic scale in all 5 positions. Then practiced songs for an hour. Feel like if I don’t play twice that long I’m not getting the job done. lol.

@George Zapata exactly. I’m tired of only being able to strum chords. I want to be able to solo.

From “One Day” to Day 21 🎸✨
Hey y’all! 👋🏻 I'm Charlsie, and I’ve officially been learning guitar for three weeks now! I’ve wanted to learn for YEARS, but you know how life goes—I kept getting busy, making excuses, and telling myself I’d do it “one day.” Well, I finally decided one day needed to be NOW. I’m definitely still in the “why won’t my fingers do what I’m telling them to do?” stage, but I’m loving every minute of it. 😂 I’ve already learned several chords, I’m working on chord changes and muscle memory, and I’m even slowly working on my first song. Every little bit of progress makes me want to keep going. I’m really excited to be part of this group, learn from everyone here, and see where this journey takes me. I’m not chasing perfection—I’m just having fun, showing up, and chasing those chords one day at a time. 💜🎸✨

@Charlsie Snow best way to learn. Try to never skip a day. Even when I’m getting ready for bed, if I haven’t played that day, I will pick up the acoustic next to my bed and play for a while. My wife loves it.

@Bryan Hefner how well I know. Devil has given up on me. Survived a tornado, motorcycle wreck and cancer.
The other you
Hey folks, I know most of us don’t make our living playing guitar, so what is your profession? My career was in electronics and technology development. I’m now doing financial advising and building amps and stuff as a hobby. Guitar collection currently sits at 10 with one or two more incoming. I’d love to be out playing live again if my schedule wasn’t so whacked.

@Bryan Hefner A good friend of mine has a Down syndrome daughter that lives with him. He is a 80 yr old widower and his daughter is 50. She packs him a lunch every day.
Which do you prefer and why
So who prefers a floyd over a hard tail like myself and why?

One time I bought a Raven West custom lefty and it had a Floyd. Didn’t bother me till I had to change strings. lol. Then I hated it. That’s the reason idont own a Strat anymore also.
