Dura-Gold Sandpaper any good?
I expect it's a mid-grade product, but I figured that I would ask the collective. Dura-Gold is everywhere, so it's easy to get. But is it any good? Better than Harbor Freight, not as good as 3M? Fine for a daily driver, not worth the time/money for a nice project? Any experience?

Black Widow HTE vs Porphis PRD-817
I watched Aaron's review of the Porphis PRD-817 spray gun recently, and after he got it dialed in, he seemed to like it for clearcoat. I have pretty much zero experience painting. I do have the Black Widow HTE, but I saw some guys on YouTube talking about it laying down material more slowly. My current project is a 1986 F150, and I will be spraying the entire truck and that is a lot of surface area. Since I have a bunch of projects in my future that will need painting, I was wondering would it be worth it to get the PRD-817 to use as a dedicated clear gun? Also, I wonder where Aaron would put it in his rankings of guns he's used. I know he really like the Black Widow HTE. Should I just stick with that? Thoughts, anyone?

I have the Black Widow HTE as well, and my first project is a '96 F150. The tricky part has been that it's two-tone. Metallic Blue over Oxford White. I overtaking EVERYTHING! The white goes on great, but then I *&^%$#@ up on the blue. I painted the bed three times, and it still came out looking like garbage. I just picked up the Drizzle Pro, with a tip for base, and another tip for clear. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. That being said,I think Chris is right. Time behind the gun is more important than the gun itself. There is so much more to painting than the gun. Technique, environment, temp, humidity, dust, speed, time, paint, etc.

Located in southwestern Virginia. Started with the airbrush and my projects keep growing in size. Haven't painted a full car since my teens but have recently done a couple panels. My end goal is to do a full custom paint on one of my project cars.

Welcome! I'm in SoCal. I have zero painting experience (all my work has been mechanical), so I'm here to learn anything and everything.
Alternative Paint Storage?
As I was progressing through the safety lesson pertaining to paint storage, it mentioned a metal fire proof cabinet as the preferred option. I agree this is a great option, but for the hobbyist, those can be quite the investment… I wanted to share a dirt-cheap alternative that I’m using. Would love everyone’s thoughts. If there’s something I’m overlooking… I want to be safe, and will gladly spend the $ if it’s needed- it’s a lot cheaper than replacing a house or shop. I use an old retired refrigerator, it’s insulated so the temperature is stabilized, and would certainly protect from fires. It has a self-closing door, and would also contain spills.

That's pretty clever. I've also looked at metal cabinets, specifically on Facebook Marketplace. They're usually too expensive, too far away, or both. Right now, everything is just on a shelf in the garage, but I need something better than that. At least it's not stored near the ammo ... 🤔
Black with Pearl
So, my big project is to repaint my '64 Ford Ranchero. Currently, it's silver, with a lighter silver for accents. I've decided to repaint it silver, but with black pearl accents instead. The accents will be the hood and side double-dips. My question is on the black pearl. Do I buy pre-pearled black, do I mix in pearl into the black on my own, or do I spray the black, and mix the pearl into the clear? If the last, do I clear over the "pearlized clear?" For anyone asking, yes, I do have to repaint. The clear is destroyed. No, I know, I can't just re-clear.

@Ron Bell it won't "quite" be factory, but it should be fun. My license plate says, "SMOKY 64." The black-on-silver should still apply. 👍

@Ron Bell mine needs a bit of work, too. She has been sitting for ~3 years. She needs paint, tires (time to jump up a size?), maybe interior (currently has a bench seat; I can't decide if she "needs" bucket seats). These pre-Mustangs are a lot of fun. Mustangs have "rules." These Falcons have looser rules. They don't get the $$$ that the Mustangs do, but you also have more freedom with them.
