Day 6: Celebrating a massive win for Max! 🐾
We are celebrating how far Max has come with his training. We have been working hard on crate confidence, handling and trust and the progress is so rewarding! He is improving so much overall, with a huge credit to the whole Walkys team for helping us get here and a special mention to Haley and Eliza and Nath for their incredible knowledge, patience, support and dedication. Max's Big Wins: Crate Comfort: As you can see, he now happily hangs out in his crate and sits calmly inside. Handling & Trust: He’s also making huge strides with body sensitivity, now letting us check areas a vet normally would, like his ears, eyes, mouth, nose and legs. Building this kind of trust takes time, but seeing him this relaxed makes every second worth it 😊

Well done !!
Day 7 challenge
This week has flown by! But I’m so thankfully for this challenge. The way this Walkies community - being so kind helpful and supportive of Rosie I’m forever thankful This week I’m so thankful for the biggest win. I’m most proud of -I was feeling low and had a busy day at work so was loosing my voice. I took Rosie out for a walk an on one of our regular walks we have a quite paddock that I use to let Rosie have a run an have some time training recall without lead. Rosie must of vibed on me that day an as I let her off I remembered my voice an thought oh noooo how will I recall her I sat on a concrete storm water drain that’s raised and when I seen Rosie check in from across the paddock I signal with my body language and what little voice I had to return and my mind was blown as she came bolting back to me ❤️ I use day 7 to reflect. This week with the support of the trainers I have realised that at times I try and go from step 1 to step 5 and miss the steps between causing confusion for Rosie. Now I have realised this and corrected myself (still a work in progress) we are having much more engagement We have strengthened Rosie ability to stay with some distance duration and distraction (with my silly antics🤣) We have started crating during the day to help build an off switch so Rosie is less like on meth ( still got lots of work to do here 🙈😂🤭) Iv since learnt Rosie does want to work and does want to preform for us but she is too “on” and needs to chill abit to allow her brain to process where before I thought she was bored and needed more enrichment and walks Best of all Rosie and have built a stronger connection. Prior Rosie didn’t return to me of check in when feeling unsure. During a play with my friends labs Rosie became unsure and dropped her tail she straight away looked up to find me not only check in but came to me put herself in safety position between my legs this is when I advocated for her and distracted the other dog with a toy(Frisbee) off that dog went. Gave Rosie some calming pats and then did some one on one play and couple of training motions to just calm her brain out her back to “free” an just with me until she was ready an she return to play. Rosie didn’t start as a snuggly pup it’s something we have had to build with her via trust and she doesn’t give that away easy haha but as you see if I lay down her new fav thing to do is put her head on mine 🤭🥰 and snuggle in

@Jennifer Mcfarlane sure can. It’s funny coz it seems to be dog/human selective with Rosie. We got attacked one time by two staffies that were out rooming the street when we were walking and it just kicked off this behaviour in Rosie so unexpectedly now we have to try and get her calm again 😭

@Jennifer Mcfarlane was definitely an experience that I hope we don’t encounter often Glad to see others are the same with the expectations wanted then still have some rough days makes us feel less alone 🥰
Issues with down when out
Is there any reason that Rosie seems to dislike to lay down when out and about or when on walks ?

@Matthew Marsh we got a couple of sit or down along our walk took a lot of bribes and if you blink you may miss it but we appreciate that you said to keep practicing so I’ll try practicing on each walk ☺️
DAY 7 SHOW UP CHALLENGE
Well what a week it has been🤣 We had lots of wins this week, the biggest stand out is that now when I am getting something ready of Cas and he is super excited and I ask him to sit, he goes straight into the down position aswell ( thx Matt). Im proud of Cas everyday ❤️. I could spend all day writting about it , but let's just say every day I see small 💡 moments in his head and he makes the right choices and they all build up to make for a much calmer Cas . I leant Cas and me filming dont go to well🤣 But really after this challenge people on here have connected on a more personal level also sharing the good , the bad and the ugly 😄 and it was nice to read and see that we are all going through or have been through the same type of things. I've learnt that Cas is a different dog when out of the house. His reactivity is so minor that im so grateful for. Usually if walking he might stop and just observe or turn his head and keep an eye on what's around him but continue walking and re engages when the distraction has past. That's all ill day before I keep rambling on 🤣 Great challenge 👏 Thankyou everyone for sharing such great video, pics and comments❤️
