Hey everyone. I’m an older wrestler (UNC) and very new to the sport. From NZ 🇳🇿 Y’all probably know we are big on rugby and contact sports down here haha. We don’t have a large community and for some reason wrestling hasn’t really taken off here, which is crazy as we definitely have the population base that you’d think would be all over it 😂 Does anyone have any idea what makes wrestling so and appealing to the other nations’ communities? Would be cool to see if any of these ideas could be implemented here idk
Hi all, someone has a recommended routine/drills/tools/instructionals to refer to when forced to train solo without access to a wrestling facility nor training partners? How much do you recommend a dummy? I'm more interested in the standing game obviously
I think one of the fastest ways to get better at wrestling is juts stop being so tense. I think alot of use think we are doing good because we are tense and just go hard the whole round. but its impossible to experiment when doing this. And yes you might "lose" at first(even tho there is no losing at practice) but you will start to develop techniques you could never even learn because you are going so HARD!
so question for you guys is how often does your gym let you start standing? im curious because I know some gyms are less than others. As well as how often do they actually teach you guys takedowns in class?? please let me know below I am very curious how other schools do this!
yes, BJJ classes do end with live rounds from standing, typically. Mostly, though, BJJ lads will attend Wrestling to sharpen prior to comps as well, ofc. Helps that our kickboxing/wrestling coach is also a purple belt 🔥
how do you guys like to recover from jiujitsu?? I know some of y'all are old in here🤣(not a diss) but how do y'all like to recover from jiujitsu?? I personally like epsom salt baths but thats just cause I can do it at home. I also like tiger balm(I'm asian). but I'm curious how y'all do it, plus it can help people in the community!
Bruh 😂 Electrolyte drink during live rounds, massage gun, stretch, wife cooks me a high protein meal ready for when I get home (keeper), sleep is no brainer (but something I naturally struggle with). Careful with nutrition. Not always perfect and easier said than done ofc 😂
@Andreus Bond wife does a bulk buy of 0 sugar Gatorades when she gets to cost co (we live in an isolated area of the country) 😂 probably better options but I like them
