🪝 A member in this community forced herself on camera every single day. Day 20 was the first take she liked. That is not slow. That is exactly the speed it takes.
Camera comfort is not a personality trait, it is a rep count. Fifty men on a job site is easy for me and a room full of chairs still makes me nervous, I do it anyway because the discomfort is the price of the work mattering. Your first twenty videos are not content. They are training. Post them somewhere, anywhere, because reps recorded and buried do half the work of reps published. 🎯 Do this today: record one 60-second take and do not delete it. That is the whole assignment. ❓ What take number are you on, honestly? 👇 ——— ▶️ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@theyoutubegrowthsystems 🌐 Website: https://ytgrowthsystems.com/ 👥 Community: https://www.skool.com/syncraticsystems-3823/about Today's full Your Advantage note is in the Classroom: https://www.skool.com/syncraticsystems-3823/classroom/05249325?md=242e404908b348068f2c8d3ad9add4c3

@Rodney Thompson I agree. I’ve gotten more comfortable on camera and it took a while. I have about 46 long form videos but I’m still working on what my “authenticity” feels like.
The first hundred
The first hundred subscribers were the hardest and the most real. I roughly knew who they were. Somewhere past a few thousand they turn into a number on a screen, and that's exactly when you have to work harder to remember they aren't one. When's the last time you talked to one actual viewer instead of looking at the count?

I actually chatted yesterday with one who’s been leaving comments on my videos.
Scenario
Your audience is drifting toward a topic you don't film. Follow them, or hold?

Follow them only if it is something that can still be linked to your niche.
Why I still get nervous
Fifty men work for me and I have no problem running that crew. Put me in front of a room to speak and I still get nervous every time, no matter how many times I've done it. I do it anyway because some things are worth being uncomfortable for. What's something you're still not comfortable doing, that you do anyway because it matters?

Showing up on live videos. English is not my first language and sometimes I mess up and can’t edit it out.

@Rodney Thompson thanks for the encouragement. 😊
Why I don't skip the hard parts
A lot of channels cut straight to the exciting part. I leave the hundred yard portages in, hauling gear over downed pines trip after trip. That's the actual trip. If I only showed the highlight reel you'd think this life is easier than it is. Do you show people the hard, boring middle of what you do, or just the highlight? What would change if you started showing the real one?

It depends. My videos are mostly educational, so I talk about my mistakes more than I show them. But yeah I think that’s the same idea.
