How Do You Get Paid?
💰 You Published Your Book on Amazon KDP… Now How Do You Get Paid? I've been seeing this question pop up quite a bit lately! Authors finally get their books published on Amazon, but then they're wondering… 🤔 How do I know if someone bought my book? 🤔 Where can I see how much money I've made? 🤔 When does Amazon actually pay me? If you're new to Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), here's how it works! 💵 1. How Do You Make Money With KDP? When someone purchases your paperback, hardcover, or eBook, you earn a royalty. Your royalty is the portion of the sale that Amazon pays you after applicable costs and fees. You can also earn royalties when Kindle Unlimited subscribers read pages of an eligible eBook enrolled in KDP Select! 📊 2. Where Do You Find Your Earnings? This is the part many new authors miss! 👉 Log in to your KDP account at https://kdp.amazon.com 👉 Click Reports at the top of your dashboard. 👉 Select Royalties Estimator to see how much you've earned. You can filter your earnings by book, marketplace, format, and date range. Want to see how many books you've sold? Check the Orders report! You can also go directly to your reports here: https://kdpreports.amazon.com 📅 3. When Does Amazon Pay You? Here's the important part: Amazon doesn't pay you immediately after a sale! KDP typically pays royalties approximately 60 days after the end of the month in which the sale was reported. For example: 📚 January sales → Paid at the end of March 📚 February sales → Paid at the end of April 📚 March sales → Paid at the end of May Expanded Distribution royalties generally take longer (approximately 90 days). So don't panic if you made sales this month but haven't received a deposit! 🏦 4. How Do You Receive Your Money? Amazon sends your royalties using the payment method you've set up in your KDP account. Make sure your banking information and tax details are completed correctly. Good news! Electronic funds transfers generally have no minimum royalty threshold, so you don't need to sell hundreds of books before receiving your first payment. Check and wire payments may have minimum thresholds.

I look forward to this stage 💸, sadly I just learned I have to wait approx 2 months for Canada to set up my ISBN account :( I wish I had known this. On the bright side, at least I can finish up my audible recording and edits and launch it all together.
Self-narration vs. Amazon Virtual Voice: what happened when I tried both
Yesterday, I recorded the 13-minute intro for my new audiobook, Healing Isn't Your Job. Playing it back, it was flat, stiff, and clearly sounded like reading off a page. Just as I planned to re-record, I logged into my KDP dashboard and discovered I’d been invited to the Amazon Virtual Voice (AI narration) beta. The audiobook is live now on Audible (US): 👉 Healing Isn't Your Job on Audible US-only & free (for now): Distribution is currently limited to the US marketplace Self-narration is a distinct skill from writing, and getting a great take requires serious effort. Having Virtual Voice pop up right as I hit a wall was a welcome surprise. For the group: Has anyone else spotted the Virtual Voice option on their dashboard? If you've tried AI vs. human narration, how have your listeners responded?

@Krista Brea I’m doing it and it has many stressful variables, besides the time it takes to record and edit, I am in an area that has a bright light above my head what a pain 🙃

Audiobook News Flash🚨
🚨 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗔𝗖𝗫/𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲! If you publish audiobooks, there are several new tools rolling out that could make it easier to launch, promote, and sell your titles. Here’s what’s coming: 📅 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 ACX is rolling out the ability to set up pre-orders before your audiobook officially releases. This could be a great way to build momentum before launch and give your existing audience a chance to grab the book early. 📣 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 Audible now has downloadable promotional graphics for your audiobook titles that are already sized for social media. This should make it much easier to promote your audiobooks without having to design every graphic yourself. 🔎 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 This is probably the update I’m most interested in. Authors will have more opportunities to advertise audiobook titles through Amazon Ads in the U.S., which means your audiobook could appear when readers are searching for your books or similar titles. ⚡ 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 ACX says they’re also shortening the amount of time it takes for new audiobooks and updates to go live. That should make coordinating audiobook launches with paperback and ebook releases much easier. Audiobooks have been a significant part of my publishing income, so I’m definitely going to be watching how these tools develop. 𝗘𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝘀 + 𝗽𝗿𝗲-𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀. 👀 If you already have audiobooks published, which one of these updates are you most excited about? And if you haven’t created an audiobook yet… this might be another reason to start thinking about adding audio to your publishing strategy. 🎧📚

📚 Finished Writing Your Book? Read This
One thing I wish more new authors understood is that finishing the manuscript is a HUGE milestone…but it’s not the finish line. Before you hit Publish on Amazon KDP, you still need to think about: → Is the title clear and appealing to the right reader? → Does the cover fit what readers expect in your niche? → Are you using your 7 backend keyword boxes strategically? → Did you choose relevant categories? → Does your description actually make someone want to buy? → Is the interior formatted professionally? → Do you have any kind of plan for getting eyes on the book after it goes live? This is actually why I’m such a big believer in planning your book BEFORE you spend months writing it. You don't want to finish a book and then realize you never thought about how you were going to position or sell it. 💬 Where are YOU right now? A. Planning my book B. Writing it C. Getting ready to publish D. Already published and trying to get more sales Drop your letter below! 👇 (p.s. if you need personalized support, I do offer a 1:1 consulting call)

@Rich Gomez would love to know your thoughts too :)
Anyone know of a good AI formatting software that converts word docs successfully?
I have a 7 volume set of books that are in word at the moment and would like to know if there is an AI that can format (beautify) these in one go rather than doing it manually page by page in canva, as I have done before. The ai I have tried aren’t powerful enough yet. If not, I’m thinking to just publish it as is with a cover page but thought I’d ask here first.
