SOTD x2
Yesterday afternoon I gave L'Homme Ideal Platine Privé a wear after a lengthy term on the bench. Enjoyed the fresh, brisk, uplifting citrus open so much I went ahead and chose it again. This is an easy to wear fragrance formal or casual. Projection is good for the first couple of hours before leaving a nice sillage for another 6 hours from my wear yesterday. I enjoy the almond and musk dry down and citrus is ever present to my nose. 10 /10 for me.

It's about 75% similar to my nose but Cologne Forte has the cinnamon sweetness giving better lasting power. Cologne Forte is more versatile as it works on cold days too. Platine Privé is fresher and probably wouldn't be my first choice in the cold.

Yesterday went with this one because my wife wore the Donna Purple Melancholia and she wanted me to wear it. Went to the mall in the afternoon, my wife likes it a lot and hers also.

My co worker has this and it's pretty noticeable. First time he wore it was a choke out for a couple of us at the office. Too cloying when oversprayed and I did comment about it. 2nd time he wore it sprays were toned down and it was good. Good scent I do enjoy it in the air.
Drakkar Noir by Guy Laroche review
#sotd... Drakkar Noir by Guy Laroche... With having over 550 fragrances, from time to time I like to go back through and grab ones I haven't worn in awhile. Today's reach is for a timeless classic. Drakkar Noir was first released in 1982. This is an aromatic fougère fragrance. Even after years of reformulations, this is stands the hands of time. Drakkar Noir blends clean, soapy elements with a dark, sharp masculinity. It opens with a bright cleanness before moving onto a spicy herbal feel. The dry down brings on a heavy masculine woodsiness. I still get good projection with about 8 hours of longevity. This will always rank high in my collection. Mainly because it use to be my signature scent when I was young as probably with most men over 50 years old that wore cologne back in the day... Still a 10 out of a 10 for me.

SOTGym: Bvlgari Rain Essence
Smell of fresh cold rain in a garden done pretty well. Lasts well on me and one of the better and unique designer freshies imo. Super slept on so im glad that many wouldn’t smell like me. Need another bottle tho as i have less than 10ml left in mine.

A Brief Farewell and a SOTD – PDM Carlisle
Brothers, today's SOTD will be my last review until sometime in mid-November. Yes, I'm bringing my recent hot streak of daily fragrance reviews to an end, but I think I have a pretty good excuse. I'll be traveling 12 time zones away to spend some much-anticipated time with Michelle, including celebrating her birthday together. And frankly, that's a trade I'm more than happy to make! But before I disappear for a few weeks, there's one more fragrance to explore. Today's SOTD is Parfums de Marly Carlisle, another sample from a house that has been making a very favorable impression on me lately. And Carlisle is quite a way to finish this run. This is a rich, dark, substantial fragrance that seems tailor-made for cold weather. The dominant notes, at least to my nose, are patchouli and vanilla, and they make a terrific combination. The patchouli brings an earthy, slightly mysterious depth, while the vanilla provides a smooth sweetness that softens the darker elements. But there's more going on beneath the surface. Tonka bean, nutmeg, apple, and rose all contribute to the composition, adding warmth, spice, and subtle fruity and floral accents. They're not necessarily competing for attention, though. The patchouli and vanilla are unquestionably the stars of this particular show. The result is a bold, sophisticated fragrance with plenty of personality. It's not something I'd reach for on a hot summer afternoon, but on a crisp autumn evening or a genuinely cold winter day? Absolutely. I've been impressed by how many different approaches Parfums de Marly takes to its fragrances. Layton, Herod, Althaïr, Percival, and now Carlisle have all given me something to appreciate, even though they're very different experiences. And then for summer fresh fragrances, we have Sedley and Greenley. Of course, the challenge is deciding which ones deserve a place in an already growing collection, especially at PDM prices. Carlisle has certainly earned further consideration, but I'll want to spend more time with the sample before making any decisions.
