What's the point of healing?
Aside from the obvious, which is to feel better and to be more of our authentic selves, why do we do this inner work? Why heal? At its core, healing is about freedom. It's the process of becoming free from the unconscious wounds, beliefs, patterns and conditioning that shape the way we think, love, lead, relate and move through the world because until we become conscious of these patterns, we tend to repeat them. The abandonment wound becomes fear of intimacy. The need for approval becomes people-pleasing. Unprocessed anger becomes reactivity. The pain we never learned how to hold gets projected onto the people closest to us. And this is where healing becomes much bigger than ourselves. Every one of us carries imprints from our own experiences, our families, our culture and the generations that came before us. Eastern traditions have called these samskaras: impressions that continue to influence consciousness until they are brought into awareness. When we meet those patterns consciously, we interrupt their momentum. What has traveled through a family for generations doesn't necessarily have to continue through us. We heal for ourselves, but we also heal for our children, our relationships, our communities and the people whose lives intersect with ours because what remains unconscious within us inevitably touches the world around us. A person who learns to regulate their nervous system changes the emotional environment of their home. A parent who heals their shame is less likely to pass that shame to their child. A leader who has confronted their own shadow leads differently. A person who learns forgiveness stops feeding another cycle of resentment. Our inner world becomes part of the outer world. Zoom out even further and many of the problems we experience collectively are individual human patterns magnified across millions of people: fear, greed, domination, shame, separation, unprocessed trauma and the need for control. The collective is made of individuals so when one person becomes more conscious, they change what they contribute to the whole.

Monday Reflection ✍️
Lately, I’ve been surveying every nook of my life (inner and outer) and looking at all the identities I’ve created. So I invite you into a contemplation this morning and throughout today… 1. Who are you beneath the layers of everything you’ve believed yourself to be? 2. What remains when you stop identifying with the roles, the stories, the wounds, the achievements and the version of yourself you have worked so hard to become? 3. What is seeking to emerge and express through you?
