Thats such an interesting article, thanks for sharing. Id be curious to know if it works better for tree species that are exposed to fire generally more often like the eucalypts here, that would make it a lot more interesting to introduce it here

...maybe interesting but on a larger scale- apparently Costa Rica reversed a lot of its deforestation by paying land owners for the value trees provide by BEING on the land:

And I think its important to remember to do what you can and then let it go. Do not get attached to expecting a certain outcome (easier said than done at times) but be content with the fact that you have done everything in YOUR control and face everything beyond that with equanimity as much as one can.

Im Malte, Ive been working in and around trees for the last 10 years, starting out with an apprenticeship in logging back in germany, working in hazardous tree-removal in forestry, wildlife monitoring, seed(cone) harvesting and then after in urban treecare in Berlin, in tree management for the city of Berlin and then moved to Australia 5 years ago. I was impressed by how skilled peoplecan remove trees here with very minimal gear and learned a lot, at rhe same time I was quite honestly shocked how rough and unregulated a business it is here atthe same time. Quite a low level of training, rules and regulations and it often also shows in the treework carried out. Glad that I came across like minded people who do seem to value trees for all.the various benefits they provide and I am totally on board that the discussion and maybeindustry has to pivot to a focus on that. Maybe I can contribute a little with input from my time workingfor the city of Berlin where every tree is a valuable asset especially in times of global warming, dry summers, less rain and all that and more affecting (urban) trees and the struggle to retain them.
