Medicare when disabled
When can I apply for Medicare ? They state they determined me disabled 11/7/25. Does the 24 months start from that date or from when I got my first check in May2026

The 24-months begins with the first month the person is entitled to a disability benefit payment. Medicare coverage begins the first day of the 25th month of Title II disability benefit entitlement.

Survivors Benefits
My brother was disabled before the age of 22. I tried to sign up for Survivors Benefits from our mother when she died and was told he was not eligible. She took care of him and now I am trying to help him. What should I do?

I would recommend scheduling an appointment to go into the local SSA office and asking to apply to see if he’s eligible for a disabled adult child benefit (DAC) since disability is prior to age 22. Since mom has passed away he could be eligible and ask for appointment with Title II claims expert. If they deny i recommend making sure they provide a reason in the denial letter so you know best what action to take if any after.

MEDICARE
When someone turns 60 and is receiving DWB benefits, I know it transitions to Regular Survivors Benefits. Does Medicare also stay with the person at age 60?
