Debut niche nonfiction book live on KDP, stuck at zero reviews — seeking compliant launch strategies
Hi everyone, I’m A.x. Hale, happy to join the community. I’m brand-new to KDP self-publishing. I released my first nonfiction eBook, Fueling the Night Shift, on July 30, 2026. This book delivers tailored nutrition guidance exclusively for night shift workers, focusing on midnight sugar cravings, disrupted hunger hormones and sustainable shift-work eating habits. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HC52ZHYT Since launch, I’m seeing zero organic traffic, zero sales, and most importantly, zero reviews. Without any social proof, conversion is nearly impossible. I don’t have an existing email audience, and I’ve started building organic content on Pinterest and X to connect with my target readers, but progress is very slow. I want to stick strictly to Amazon’s TOS and avoid risky tactics that lead to removed reviews or account penalties. I’m curious to hear from other authors publishing tight niche nonfiction: What safe, long-term strategies did you use to land your first set of honest early reviews for a brand-new release with no pre-built audience? Are there specific ARC workflows or reader outreach approaches you found most effective for shift-worker / wellness niches? Thank you all for any insights you can share.

@A.x. Hale Here's what's working for me: US market down only 0.15 UK market down only 0.17 CAN market down only 0.16 AUS market down only 0.16 then i also have an up & down campaign for each of the markets, I bid 0.01 lower than what i have listed above since up and down allows amazon to increase the bids by up to 100% (ideally you want your average CPC to be 0.2 or lower for these types of ads) all books (that you want to sell) and all formats. for these campaigns some months I will either get zero sales but less than a few dollars of spend (even if i get no sales for some, the overall 8 campaigns are still profitable all together), I usually have an average of ~20% ACOS across all 8 of these campaigns. no optimization or changing bids, just let it run. the way I got to those numbers above for the down only strategy is I started low and just kept increasing the bid by 0.01 every week if my average CPC was at the set bid, once it's 0.01 lower, you know you've hit the ceiling for your low bid auto lottery ad strategy these are of course all for my English books hence why I'm targeting the primarily English speaking countries but I'm wondering if I should perhaps try running these ads in other countries too?

@A.x. Hale BTW I just looked up the keyword "Nurse" under books and I found these 2 best-seller charting guides for nurses. Since you're building an audience of Nurses perhaps this could be a potential book you could make. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H9LXFKKB https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GJR36XWT/ The covers are pretty amateur and there's no A+ content. If you use Visuals by PublishFlow I bet you could compete pretty well on that. Also found this other brand too where they do have A+ content but you could make it waayyyyyyy better with PublishFlow I bet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H7QBZ9KL
All In in one niche or diversification
I’d love your perspective on this because I’m torn between going all in on one brand or building two in parallel. I currently have an Instagram account in the Islamic niche with around 10K followers. I’ve already published an Amazon KDP book for this audience, which sold well for a while, but sales have now slowed down significantly. My reach also dropped because I wasn’t consistently posting strong content for quite some time. I’ve recently started posting again, though, and I can already see my reach and follower growth picking back up. So I’m wondering: Would you go ALL IN on this one niche — focus on growing the account with really strong content, build additional TikTok/BookTok accounts around it, and publish several more books to build a strong KDP backlist? Or would you simultaneously build a second brand in the broader women’s self-help niche (overthinking, letting go, emotional wellbeing, etc.), with its own Instagram + TikTok/BookTok strategy and KDP books, so that I’m building two potential income streams at the same time? Basically: Is it smarter to concentrate all my energy on making one brand really big, or diversify early and grow two brands in parallel? (Context: I’m a mom and realistically only have around 2–3 focused hours per weekday for my entire business, including content creation.)

I would recommend you stick to one brand, preferably in the niche you already have an audience around. If you only have a few hours a day you want to take advantage of the compounding effect as much as possible. The only reason why I might suggest dropping it is if you can't see yourself in the Islamic niche for the next 5-10+ years. Something that I've struggled with is building one single brand and sticking to it. I know I would be much farther along if I just stuck to one. Plus building a new brand from scratch is a lot of work lol, you already have an existing audience so why not keep using it. Also I'm not sure what you're currently doing with your books but what if you could combine the ideas and slowly branch out? i.e. Books about overthinking/letting go/emotional wellbeing for Islamic women etc. There are many ways you can expand a book brand with tangentially related topics. If you current following is for both men and women then you could also consider making those same books but for men, and/or self-help for Islamic people in general. Obviously I don't know this niche but you get the general principle I'm talking about right? lol. Let me know what you end up deciding and wish you the best of luck!

A major discovery: Better Writing Quality 🏅
We ran a series of benchmark tests, and one thing stood out: the quality of a PublishFlow book depends heavily on the style and tone guide behind it. The gap between a strong guide and a weak one was dramatic. A weak guide pulls the whole book down, the writing reads worse and the content lands with less value. A strong guide produces genuinely exceptional books. In practice that meant if you did not spend time tuning your style and tone guide, the outcome carried more variance than it should have. Some books came out excellent, others less so, without a clear reason why. We have now solved that at the source. The style and tone generation has been rebuilt to be optimized by default. In a benchmark test accross 4 books, the new generation beat every model we tested across all categories. By far. ✅ For new books, every style and tone guide you create in PublishFlow, whichever way you create it, is now fully optimized. Great writing style is the default now, not something you have to get right by hand. ℹ️ For your existing books: if you are happy with how they read, you do not need to do anything, your guide was already doing its job. But if the writing style ever felt a little off, you can now regenerate the style and tone guide and rewrite the book on top of it. Attached you find our transparent benchmarks, tested against the strongest AI models out there.
