Building the "Fun Factor" 🚀
This build has kind of felt out of order with all the playing around I did at first before finding anything concrete to sell. It started with creating a mascot for my own community about big emotions. 👽 Then I gave him a name and a meaning. He's Echo, our rainbow tinted reflection of the perfect emotional balance. Not something we ever reach so we always have something to keep reaching for. 🌈 And then others outside my community saw him too. Being in so many communities myself, I am constantly meeting new people and learning about their experiences as both owners and members. So when I was asked to hop on a call and help someone with the focus for their community I was more than happy to. Then he paid me! 🤯 I was just being my usual friendly curious self and he felt like I deserved to be paid for it. 🤯🤯🤯 And that's where these two services come from. Community Soul Design & The Fun Audit 🎉 I added the links I created in case anyone feels called to help me test them out and maybe critique my sales pages? ☺ As a gift, I would like Skoolology to be the first to test my first ever GPT to help owners examine their onboarding process. 🎁 The Welcome Portal 🛸 @Donna Thornton I promise it only took my like 10 minutes total with only one kid interruption in between 😅😂😂😂 She was so right though. It's time to stop building and tweaking... and start building confidence and getting visible 👀

I think only the big groups with large followings on social platforms get boosted. Our groups are probably too small to bother with.

🔨 Okay...Here’s What We’re Building
Well...you all just gave me even MORE reasons to try what we've been tinkering with. 🔨 @Helen Harris talked about not always knowing whether members have permission to start their own posts. @Kathy Adams gave us a perfect example of what can happen when one member shares and another jumps into the conversation. @Jen Ps is already thinking about what this could look like in her own community. And so many more thoughtful insights...🤗 So...ready to see what we're building? 🔨 Welcome to In the Build Some conversations this week got us thinking... How do we make it easier for members to start conversations here? Not just answer OUR questions. Not just share when they have a win. But bring in what they’re working on, wondering about, testing, struggling with, or still figuring out. And then we realized... We can’t just say we want more of that. We have to design for it. That’s part of community design. Sometimes it isn’t about adding something new. It’s looking at what you already have and asking: Is this creating the behavior and experience we actually want? For us, Help & Q&A wasn’t quite doing that. It sounded like a place to go when you had a question or needed help. But we want something bigger. SomethIng deeper. So we’re changing it to: 🔨 In the Build And in the spirit of the new category, I’m bringing you into OUR build by telling you why. 😊 In the Build is a place for you to start conversations around what you’re actually working on. Bring us the graphic you’re deciding between. The offer you’re testing. The community you’re getting ready to open. The post that got crickets. The idea you haven’t figured out yet. The thing that worked and you’re wondering WHY. Ask for feedback. Share the experiment. Tell us what happened. Come back and tell us what you changed. And yes, you can share what you’re creating here. A new community.

🔨 What if we're asking the wrong question?
We’ve been thinking about some of our conversations this week around getting members more comfortable starting conversations of their own. Not just responding to what WE post. Not just showing up when there’s a prompt. Actually feeling comfortable enough to say: “Here’s what I’m working on.” “I tried this and it didn’t quite work.” “Can I get your eyes on something?” “I have an idea…” And it got us wondering... Maybe the question isn’t only: How do we get members to post more? Maybe there’s another question worth asking: Have we intentionally designed a space that makes it easier for them to know WHAT they can share? Hmmm. 🤔 Because sometimes community design isn’t about adding more. Sometimes it’s looking at what we already have and asking whether it’s creating the experience and behaviors we actually want. So...I’ve been tinkering with something inside Skoolology today. 🔨 In the spirit of letting you see more of OUR messy middle, I thought I’d bring you into the build before it’s finished. More soon. 😏

You think it is difficult to get members to participate in groups full of like-minded from Skool is not that easy. Try a room full of people coming from a traditional social media background 😁
☕ COMMON GROUND: Saturday Night Edition
Okay, we're keeping this one completely unserious. 😂 You unexpectedly get an entire day tomorrow with NOTHING you have to do. No work. No errands. No laundry calling your name. Nobody needs anything from you. What are you doing with it? Are you... 😴 Sleeping ridiculously late? 📚 Reading all day? 🚗 Going somewhere? 🍿 Binge-watching something? 🌳 Heading outside? ☕ Sitting somewhere with coffee and refusing to move? 🎨 Making something? 🍕 Eating something you didn't cook? Or do you have a completely different idea of the perfect do-nothing day? And YES...doing absolutely nothing is a perfectly acceptable answer. 😂 👇 What's your day looking like?
