So I built NIMblers, a 1-v-1 typing duel game for the miniapps competition, just before the weekly leaderboard reset today, I noticed that last week someone played using the private mode between two friends. I was thinking instead of a two man private mode, what about a groupie for friends. So let's say you are in a group of 10 friends and everyone is joking on who types faster "CORRECTLY". You can head over to NIMblers, create a private groupie duel with 10 participants, share the code in your group, everyone joins, stake, type and their score is saved privately until the last participant joins the challenge. Then the result is shown publicly and the pot splited based on each participant time. If the game stays open for more than 72 hours and all participants did not join, NIMblers split the pot between the current particiants (Just the same way we refund 24 hours later for normal duels) But my biggest challenge is how will the split work for the top people. I was thinking of "A fixed percentage-of-participants payout tier (e.g. "top 30%, rounded up, min 2 paid") rather than a fixed rank count, so it scales without you having to hand-pick splits per group size. For 5 → top 2 (30% rounds up to 2, but with a min-2 floor); for 10 → top 3; for 20 → top 6." OR For the weight curve across those paid places, a simple decreasing split that stays proportionate regardless of how many places pay: weight rank k by (paidPlaces - k + 1), then normalize. For 5 paid places that's weights 5:4:3:2:1 → 33/27/20/13/7%. For 3 paid places it's 3:2:1 → 50/33/17%. That will be top 3 for 5 participants, top 5 for 10 participants, top 4 for 7 participants. A much better feeling for the participants. I am already sketching the build phase and am about to lock in today to build it out.
