What's the point of healing?
Aside from the obvious, which is to feel better and to be more of our authentic selves, why do we do this inner work? Why heal? At its core, healing is about freedom. It's the process of becoming free from the unconscious wounds, beliefs, patterns and conditioning that shape the way we think, love, lead, relate and move through the world because until we become conscious of these patterns, we tend to repeat them. The abandonment wound becomes fear of intimacy. The need for approval becomes people-pleasing. Unprocessed anger becomes reactivity. The pain we never learned how to hold gets projected onto the people closest to us. And this is where healing becomes much bigger than ourselves. Every one of us carries imprints from our own experiences, our families, our culture and the generations that came before us. Eastern traditions have called these samskaras: impressions that continue to influence consciousness until they are brought into awareness. When we meet those patterns consciously, we interrupt their momentum. What has traveled through a family for generations doesn't necessarily have to continue through us. We heal for ourselves, but we also heal for our children, our relationships, our communities and the people whose lives intersect with ours because what remains unconscious within us inevitably touches the world around us. A person who learns to regulate their nervous system changes the emotional environment of their home. A parent who heals their shame is less likely to pass that shame to their child. A leader who has confronted their own shadow leads differently. A person who learns forgiveness stops feeding another cycle of resentment. Our inner world becomes part of the outer world. Zoom out even further and many of the problems we experience collectively are individual human patterns magnified across millions of people: fear, greed, domination, shame, separation, unprocessed trauma and the need for control. The collective is made of individuals so when one person becomes more conscious, they change what they contribute to the whole.

@Christopher August Yesterday’s morning prayers began by thanking the Sacred Plant, Cannabis for assistance in mediation of the pain in my body… During the past 70 years my body has received an amazing amount of trauma. Between the ages of 10-12, I don’t remember exactly, I fell from a large oak tree 30 feet to the ground landing flat on my front side; my body vibrated like bell ringing for hours afterward. No broken bones or internal injuries and no hospital visit. At the age of 13 working on my uncle's farm, while riding the fender of a farm tractor, my uncle driving, we changed the disk from digging to rolling, then tied a 15 ft 7x9 railroad tie behind to smooth and flatten the dirt…as my uncle drove next the fence we discussed a tree limb hanging over the fence; I grabbed the fender tightly, bent over toward the center of the tractor thinking I would be able to brush off the limb when suddenly I was knocked to the ground with the 4K lb disk rolling over me and the railroad tie flipping me over afterward. My uncle tried grabbing me during the fall, and missed, he then jumped off the tractor putting his leg over my head avoiding my decapitation. He then ran to shut the tractor down and came back and carried me to a neighbor who drove us both to the nearest hospital. My right elbow was broken and cut bleeding badly, my uncles leg was also bleeding badly and he had broken his ankle in the other leg trying to save me. We both survived and many years later, I visited him holding his hand at his passing, witnessing his spirit leave the body. At age 16, I had a motorcycle accident spending a week in the hospital with a bruised kidney. 6 years ago, I dislocated my right shoulder during motorized paragliding training and diagnosed with arthritis in both hands and the right shoulder. Happy to say, nothing major since then however, now my right knee, lower back, right elbow, right shoulder and hands are in constant pain, my teeth are falling out, cataracts have been removed from both eyes, lenses replaced with little vision improvement and I’m going bald…lol.

What is your body communicating to you?
As a somatic practitioner and guide, I’ve witnessed through countless of sessions how disconnected many of us have become from the language of our bodies. We live in a culture that rewards thinking, analyzing and intellectualizing. We’re taught to override exhaustion, suppress emotion and push through discomfort. Over time, we become so identified with the mind that we lose our ability to feel. Yet, the body is always communicating. Whether it's the tension in your shoulders, the tightness in your chest, the knot in your stomach, the fatigue you can’t seem to shake, the illness you've been dealing with, all of it is information that ultimately connects us back to an emotional and energetic imprint. Your body carries an intelligence that exists beneath conscious thought. It remembers what the mind has forgotten, reveals what you may be avoiding and often senses what is aligned long before you can explain it logically. This is why feeling is such an essential part of healing. When we allow ourselves to feel, we begin restoring communication with the deeper intelligence that lives within us. And breath is the foundation of this return. Your breath forms a bridge between the conscious and unconscious, the mind and body, the physical and emotional. It helps you move out of mental overactivity and into direct relationship with what is happening inside you. Through the breath, suppressed emotions can begin to surface. The nervous system can soften out survival and the body can release what it has been holding. As a result, you become present enough to hear the subtle signals that were once drowned out by the noise of the mind. I believe this is one of the great evolutionary journeys we are all here to make: the movement from living through the intelligence of the mind alone into the deeper intelligence of the heart and body. The mind remains an extraordinary tool, but it was never meant to lead us. When the mind becomes connected to the heart, rooted in the body and guided by what we genuinely feel, we begin making choices from a deeper place of coherence.

My body is listening for the still small voice within, "I'm Sorry, Please Forgive Me, Thank You, I Love You" clearing all pain and dis-ease. m.ml.
