Spirit week
This week is spirit week at our elementary school and today is hat day. Well.....you don't have to ask me twice on that one!! I chose a hat that has a limited wearability for me. It is a true late 1950s Stetson Gun Club made for sporting weekends. I have a similar hat that is a Knox Foxhound from the early 1950s with a wider brim. This one is a stingy brim and made of the most beautiful fur felt. Closeup photos don't do it justice. I bought it from the son of the original owner and it is in mint co dition. Notice the sporting rifle hat pin, which is ultra rate to find still attached. The kids are amused, and I am glad to have an occastion to bring it out and wear it.

Finally some fedora weather
1956 Champ Kasmir finish. Been anxiously awaiting fall overcoat and fedora weather. Finally a sunny day in the high 40s. Feels good to be back under a hat again

@Alan Dormire I certainly do. I like felt hats better, and wear them nearly every day in the cooler months. Straw hats are ok, and have their place, but "real" fedoras interest me me more

I lost a screw in my other new pair of glasses so I had to run out and get them fixed. I threw on the green brocade waist coat, the vintage batwing tie and the Gorin Bros. Narrow Brim to leave the house and go to the shop. And of course I had to wear the sunglasses as the other pair needed repair.

I love vintage bow ties, that one rocks!
Knox Superfine Foxhound Fedora
Fedora season is finally here in Wisconsin. One of my favorites is this early 1950s Knox Foxhound fedora which was more aimed at a sporting outdoor style. The ribbon is not the typical satin as found on a dress fedora, but rather a very wide yellow/orange ground that helps break up the substantially high crown. The fur felt is extraordinary in a toupe color. Paired with a vintage harris tweed action jacket, with back vents made for easier shooting, gentleman hunting or an afttenoon of Skeet shooting. Vintage Robert Talbott ancinet madder tie. As an older gent, when wearing this style of glasses and this outfit I have a very strong, erie and uncomfortable resemblance to my grandfather circa 1955. But I am bravely posting anyway.
