Daily Check-In - Thursday 8 October
This is your space to practise reflection and planning, two skills that are just as crucial to your results as anything you're learning in Encoding or Retrieval. New here? Use this formula. It's built to take under 2 minutes, so there's no excuse not to do it daily. Day [X] Today: [Win/Draw/Loss + Justification] Tomorrow: [A 1% improvement to make tomorrow slightly better] Already doing Self-Management work? Swap the formula for your own deeper daily reflection (Kolb's) and plan. It's the same underlying process, just with more depth. Key rule for "Tomorrow": your 1% improvement must be a change to your system or process rather than just a task on your to-do list. - ✅ System change: "Deleting Instagram from my home screen" → benefits every day after this one, automatically. - ❌ Just a task: "Do a physics past paper" → helps once, then you're back to zero. Remember, always progress over perfection

Day 25 Today - win - I did the prestudy I set out for today: torsion and continuous probability distributions. Though I did only half of what I want reach as per learning hours (1.5 in place of 3), it's a welcome progress for the first day. One problem I found with this approach using yt to prestudy is internet availability. So, having the videos downloaded can be an easy fix. Tomorrow: Find out the inner segments of torsion math and categorize them according to the traffic light system. Prediction: I won't complete all the practice problems but I would probably find the math with spring hard as it's different from the usual parallel vs series shaft type maths. Browsing the questions first before solving get me an idea about which problems to prioritize
🗓️ Weekly plan 4-10 October
A good weekly plan is absolutely critical to ensuring you continue to make solid progress week in, week out. New here? Use this formula. Ask yourself "What would I really like to get done over the next 7 days to make huge progress towards my long term goals" Then split your answer into two groups: General: [Your usual weekly plan — school, work, life] Bloom: [What you'll do this week to improve your study system itself] It's easy to get tunnel-visioned on school work alone as assignments and exams feel urgent, so they eat your whole plan. The "Bloom" column forces you to protect time for upgrading how you work, not just doing more of it. Still feel uncertain? Head to the Daily/Weekly Plans channel and look through some previous plans for inspiration Your ultimate goal is to have some metric to compare against at the end of the week to determine if your week was a success.

Week 6 I will prestudy torsion and contiuous probability distributions using yt this Thursday. On Friday, I will focus on getting my practice in. I will use a seperate notebook to track my 'why' findings and number them to reinforce the feeling of progress. This week has multiple deadlines, so my overall goal is to increase my learning hours to at least 3 per day. It starts with tracking my current yield and then experimenting with the approaches. This can get tricky if I were to differentiate between things that move the needle and things that just need to get done such as assignments.

Day 23 Today - draw - I did my initial mindmap as mapped. Can still do better thinking to produce better quality relations but first I want to make mindmapping a habit. Woke up at decent time. Would like to limit my afternoon naps to 15 min so that I don't get too deep into sleep before waking up. Tomorrow: Start my assignment and catch up on the chapter on torsion.

Day 23 Today - win - practiced the maths that I was willing to. Didn't complete the whole set but made meaningful progress. Tomorrow: Continue practice habit (mainly first part of making a mindmap, rating keywords). Sleep moderately early, avoid revenge bedtime procrastination.

Day 22 Today: draw - got overwhelmed with the number of things left to be done and distracted myself with entertainment. Going to sleep early would have been better. I got into a new dorm room, so hoping I can optimize my environment afresh. Experimented with changing my schedule so that I have one day with external commitments and another with more time to work on personal projects. Working well so far. Tomorrow: It's already the next day. I had early classes. Now I will take some rest and solve some column related math and give the update at the end of the day.
