I’m working through overcoming the resistance to playing. I honestly almost feel like I’m through it which is nice. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel of this moody return to my music chapter. I was leaving for a flight to family vacation early the next morning and I had friends over and I had to pack and I could see a whole week slipping through my fingers without playing again so I just sat down and made these. My flute is slowly creeping back up the priority list of my busy life. And for that, I’m grateful. I like how I smile and interact with the fly on my face musically. Next time I’d like to use more articulation and silence.

Wow! I love how your happy face shows how much you love making music.

So I was thinking, how does this lady smile without messing up her embouchure and getting an airy sound? And I noticed, You are smiling with your eyes!!!
Work Song (Hozier)
Thought I'd share this flute improvisation. I'm happy with flute, but disappointed I got an echo on the voice in the recording. Oh well, good practice anyway. I like how I started the flute low & slow and built up to the higher notes later in the song!

A Mantra
I am playing for a benefit this weekend, and I need a new mantra. “ People will laugh at me and wonder what I am doing up there” isn’t helping much!

30 sec rabbit - my first post
Hello everyone! I`m very glad I found this group!!! I have been tortured with classical piano lessons during my teen years, hated them, played the recorder in a school orchestra, which I loved, stopped playing anything for around 35 years, started playing guitar to get away from classical music and returned to wind instruments 3 years ago by picking up the flute. I usually play rock / pop / folk, but discovered Händel a couple of weeks ago, so I am playing different styles. But I am rather addicted to sheets, I`m afraid. As I sometimes play with a colleague (piano / bass / guitar) and we would like to add improvisations a bit more I was looking for a way to approach that. And I think I have found the right place! I don`t have a lot of time so I might be very quiet from time to time. But I will try for sure. In my first meeting with Vic he asked me to create the sound of a turtle and a snail. My next job was a faster animal. So here - as a first attempt to post - is my 30 sec rabbit... (is this the correct category?) By the way - I am from Germany - so please excuse my mistakes!

This is so cool! I want to do it for every scale. But: I find that after adding about 4 notes I forget where I am and just start jamming. Ok? I’ll post one soon
