Goodbye July Hello August

GREAT to sample your creations! Status Dust is evocative and sonically intriguing. I can hear it in any number of scenes - or a game? Tall Grasses is sooooo cool. Then, I loved the pulsing in the 3rd section! Then you take us somewhere else completely. I am impressed with all of it because my brain can't conceive such borderless ingenuity. 'Carnival' as good or better than first listen - don't know what changes you made. Was there less detuning in this version? Or are you pulling me into your sonic world? :-)

What artists do these songs sound like?
Hey all! Finishing up a five song playlist that I will be sending out this week. Feedback is completely welcome, however, the thing I could really use your help with is figuring out what artists each of these sounds like! 'Wish I could help. Completely out of my league here. I know no current artist's sound. But, I CAN say that you sound as good as the best artists!

Need Mix Feedback
Gang, please take a few minutes to listen and give feedback on this MIX. It is an unplugged version of one of my old songs. As I'm picking up (many) mixing tips, I am hoping that my mixes are beginning to show improvement or even, dare I say, a bit of polish. I'm happy with the song and the arrangement. What about this mix offends you? What sticks out? What is too bright/dull? I'd love to move beyond tweak stage and master the damn thing. My goal since joining has been to put together at least 20 of my tunes. This is #20. Eventually I WILL have a female singer version. Also, GIVE ME YOUR VOTE: In the instrumental break should I 1.Keep the vibes, 2. record live nylon string/Spanish guitar, 3. Live harmonica (since it's a Stevie Wonder influence) or something else?

@Tim Jeffcoat Thx Tim. You were right about the horns entrance. Fixed it. I previously consistently mixed with too much high end. Of this, I have now been convinced. I am a convert and triple checking each project for signs of recidivism. Mastering. Moving on.

@Glenn Macrae In the future, I'll be checking my instinct for too much high end in my mixes. I'll continue to 'practice' comparing against my reference tracks - but successfully achieving that expertise is MANY mixes away. I'll also worry a bit less about "standard" EQ settings (per instrument) and trust my ear more for the cohesion within the larger mix.

Singer/songwriter playlist

Stellar production David- as always! At times the vocals work like instruments which is really cool. At other (several) times I'd like them to be more out front. On first listen I could not quite understand all the lyrics. But that could just be levels or the fact that it was first listen. Thx for sharing! Also is it singer/songwriter? What do we call this niche?
