SOTD: Commodity Velvet+
I'm a sadist! At 7:40 am, I walked out the door to work wearing a fragrance line that I absolutely deprive myself of wearing. Why? Because I enjoy spoiling myself as a reward. I'm also a firm believer in not wearing the same fragrance everyday and knowing myself, I would wear the hell out of this fragrance line. The Line: Commodity Fragrances The Fragrance: Velvet+ of the Bold line The Maker: Jerome Epinette From Commodity, "Like a chef who sources the best ingredients to create the most innovative dishes, our perfumers—or Makers as we call them—source the best ingredients to create the most innovative fragrances inspired by their namesake commodities." (I love that!!!!) The Pyramid: Saffron, then Roasted Almonds and Rose Petals, then Vanilla, followed by Amber, and Patchouli. The Inspiration: As per Epinette, "For Commodity Velvet, I was inspired by the image of vibrant pink Turkish Rose Petals floating gently over a mysterious, dark background of richly warm Vanilla and Black Amber with a delicious touch of Roasted Almond drifting in the air. For Velvet+ Bold, Turkish rose is enhanced with exotic Saffron spice and sweet Vanilla. To finish, I merged Labdanum with the warmth and richness of Amber creating an intense, sophisticated and alluring fragrance." The Feeling: Confidence given aromatic life by floral, warm, and spicy notes; where every move made, every statement verbalized, and every action engaged with isn't perfect, but its so damn good that the praises heaped on you are seen as well deserved. Where YOU know people want what you have! The Glow: Immersive sillage with complimentary sparks within an 8 hour wear. That's the Bold+ power of Commodity's Scent Space working. FINAL NOTE: I love Commodity. I mean truly love them and the feeling of wearing anything from this comes with an emotional payoff. So whenever I wear or write about wearing anything from them, its due to the respect that have in their product. It goes without saying just how much I think highly of them. Velvet+ is my favorite after Milk, which is followed up by Gold+, Paper+, and Book+. It's a great wear that got so much better after 5 hours.

SOTD: MICHAEL MALUL SEA+ZEPHYR
Today I went with Michael Malul Sea+Zephyr, and this is one of those fresh fragrances that is a little more interesting than the normal blue aquatic. The opening is what really gets me. I get grapefruit, apple and that eucalyptus right away, with a green herbal edge from the basil. It gives it this fresh, breezy, almost coastal feeling without smelling like generic “ocean” cologne. As it starts to settle, the lavender, rosemary and sage come through more and it gets cleaner and a little more aromatic. There is definitely some similarity to the Acqua di Giò style of fresh aquatic fragrances, but the eucalyptus and herbal side give Sea+Zephyr its own personality. The drydown gets a little woodier and muskier, but it never becomes heavy. It stays clean, fresh and easy to wear. For me this is a HOT weather fragrance first, and especially here in Arizona this makes a lot of sense. It is refreshing, masculine and not overly sweet. Projection is pretty good early on and then it settles closer to the skin. I am not expecting beast-mode performance from this type of fragrance, but for a fresh summer scent it does the job. SOTD RATING: 8.5/10 This is one of the better Michael Malul freshies in my opinion. Easy to wear, different enough to stand out, and that eucalyptus/grapefruit combination is really what makes it work for me today.

One of my favorites from MML! Great choice brother and you're right about that apple and the drydown!
SOTD: Dior Homme Sport - Day 336
Hey guys, Joe A. here with today's Scent of the Day : Dior Homme Sport - Day 336. Parfumo lists it opening with Italian lemon, aldehydes, and Calabrian bergamot, moving through elemi resin and pink pepper to a base of frankincense, woods, and amber. I get a polished kind of sporty that feels less like locker-room body spray and more like I had errands, lunch plans, and somehow looked composed. First Sniff: Like walking out of the hotel gym already showered, dressed, and pretending this level of togetherness is normal. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/jsexn0aCqmg
