If You’re the Only Vegan in the Room, You Get to Represent Veganism in That Room
If you are the only vegan in your house, I want you to listen up. Or the only vegan in your friend group. The only vegan at your school. The only vegan at your job. There are two really important things that I want you to remember here. 1. If you're the only vegan in the room, you get to represent veganism in that room. When you show up as a vegan in spaces where you are the only vegan, all eyes are now on you. And I know that can be uncomfortable. It can feel like pressure. It can feel like isolation. But I want us to try to switch the narrative. When you're nice to people, when you're kind to people, when you show up for people, when you bring your own food, you are showing people what a vegan looks like. Because we don't look like one single thing. We all look different. Remember: this is power. You get to change the room. If you're in a room full of vegans, you're not really going to bring much change. But if you're in a room full of people who aren't yet vegan, you get to bring this to them. 2. If you are vegan, I want you to take your physical fitness and physical health seriously. Of course our mental health matters too, but I also want us to think about how we show up physically when we walk into a room and we're the only vegan. We get to have a physique that shows what a vegan can build. What a vegan can do. What a vegan can look like. We help change that narrative. By being the only vegan in the room, that's a lot of power. And by building our physique when we walk into that room, we also get to show people just how far vegans can go and show them that there's really no reason not to do this. Guys, I want to empower you, and I also want to help you build your physique. If this was helpful, share this with another vegan who needs to hear this message.

Being nice is key - being a judgy vegan doesn't help the cause at all.

I use Whollier. They have a multi for plant based eaters and one more focused on Super greens. I use the regular multi.

@Miriam Schiro back in the 80's the information wasn't available, no internet and no cell phones. People didn't know red dye was made from crushed up bugs. People didn't know natural vanilla and strawberry flavorings could come from beaver anal glands. Milk alternatives were not available at grocery stores. When traveling on road trips, there were not vegan options available. I don't know how old you are or if you were even alive in the 80's. The world was different back then, being vegan wasn't easy, even being vegetarian wasn't easy. Food labels didn't contain food allergy warnings. There could be milk in it and it wasn't listed in the ingredients. People who are as aggressive as you are the reason people hate vegans. If you take the time to care and help educate people, instead of attacking them you would convert more people to veganism. I grew up drinking water out of hose, lead paint on the walls, being sent outside to play until the street lights came on. You ate what was served for dinner or you ate it for breakfast the next day or for as many meals as it took for you to finish it. We were taught the four foods groups in school, not a lot of nutritional information was available. We used encyclopedias that were out of date for research. I remember thinking it was funny the encyclopedia said we hope to land on the moon one day, that happened when I was six months old. If you are going to judge people so harshly for doing the best they can with the information they have, you need to look in the mirror and see your own imperfections. When you went vegan more than twenty years after me, things were much easier and convenient, so don't judge others so harshly or you will turn away many possible future vegan. Some people can go vegan over night, for some it is a process and as long as they get there, that is what is important.

@Miriam Schiro I totally understand the difference. The only reason I wasn't vegan in the mid 80's was because of lack of knowledge. So many foods contained animal ingredients that we just weren't aware of. Even while vegetarian I didn't wear leather or fur or silk etc. It would be a lie to I ate completely plant based because the information wasn't available. On a road trip all you could do was your best, no one knew McDonald's fries weren't vegan, who would think they injected beef fat into them. Fast food places didn't have salad options yet. That is why I said I wavered back and forth between vegan and vegetarian, my ethics never changed, my knowledge did. It was after Dr. Neal Barnard's book, I learned a lot of the things I thought I was eating vegan, weren't and I made healthier vegan choices. There is a ton of vegan junk food out there and just because it is vegan, does mean it is healthy. Also during that time some places didn't have any healthy options, let alone vegan ones and it was eat or don't eat. I have a family history of diabetes, so I researched everything I could get my hands on. I did the best I could with the knowledge I had and the knowledge that was available at the time. You jumped to the conclusion that it was just not committing to ethics.
Hi!
Looking forward to getting to know more like minded people
