Advice on Standing Orders
Hey yall! I was wondering do I NEED physician standing orders if Id like to focus my work primarily on bodywork /manual therapies ( grastin, cupping with movement, stretch, muscle energy, recovery tools, etc ) . Im extremely passionate about this side of our skillset and want to just take a leap and stop sleeping on myself lol

Do you have a physician in mind or are you looking? Do you have the form in hand too?

Difficult Patient Satisfaction Help!
How do you guys deal with difficult patients? I had a 14-year-old basketball player come in the other day with back pain. He rated it a 7/10 when bending over and could only get down to his knees. 50 minutes later, he was able to straight-leg toe touch with his fist touching the floor. He could walk without pain. He could do high knees, butt kicks, and active warm-ups without pain. Objectively, we made a HUGE change. But he was still saying he “felt it.” So I asked him what he felt. “A stretch.” 😂 His dad was thrilled with the results. But I could tell the athlete wasn’t. And honestly, these are some of the patients I find the most difficult. When the objective findings improve dramatically, but the patient still isn’t satisfied because they can feel something, it can be frustrating. How do you guys handle these situations? How do you get the patient to understand the difference between “I feel something” and “I’m hurt”?

I would try to build more rapport with him. Kids today definitely don’t know how to interact with other people in person. Build trust. Ask questions. Dig a lil deeper. Easier said than done of course but that’s my way of thinking with difficult patients like that.
Starting Tips
For those on here that have started their own business, would you mind dropping some tips to starting?? I’m looking to get started on my own as well as I have recently moved from full time ATC to teacher with the idea of doing this! Thanks!

What kind of services are you trying to offer? Is this a side hustle or are you trying to grow it? Do you have a name yet? I think more athletic trainers should get into business because the traditional athletic training model is not a good one.

@Christian Galindo the best tip I can give you is that it’s gonna be a roller coaster of emotions and it will test you if you really want it or not. Just start. Start creating things, programs, what you want to offer and it will evolve because you will learn the first draft isn’t the final draft
