Why 99% of beginner copywriters fail (and the 3 skills you actually need)
Workshop Recordings are here now with detailed notes: https://www.skool.com/copywriting-launchpad/classroom/f983299b?md=a19fdf8b4590464b9b03eadf95942ace Most beginner copywriters spend thousands on courses, learn features and benefits, and still have no idea how to approach a real client project. This is half of Day 1 from the Copywriting Fundamentals Workshop, A live 5-day training taught by @Matthew Volkwyn and I. In this session, Matthew breaks down the only 3 types of copy you need to understand to write anything: 1️⃣ Idea Copy — How to grab the attention of the right person (not just any person). The hook is not about being clever. It is about being relevant, beneficial, and curious-making to the specific buyer. 2️⃣ Conversion Copy — How to shift a prospect's perspective so they are ready to buy before you ever pitch them. Most copywriters skip this entirely and go straight to the offer. That is why their copy does not convert. 3️⃣ Sales Copy — How to reduce risk, handle skepticism, and prompt action. This is the part AI produces easily — which means it is the least valuable skill to develop first. Matthew also walks through a live email teardown, demonstrates the Bruce Lee principle applied to copywriting, and shows you exactly what happens when you remove conversion copy from a pitch. Days 2–4 go deep into each of the three fundamental types of copy with more examples. Day 5 is a practical session where Matthew gives you a way to drill these fundamentals until they become muscle memory. Copywriting is not a shortcut. It is a learnable skill that rewards repetition, feedback, and honest practice. Copywriting Launchpad is where you do that work alongside other people on the same path. Does Outreach Still Work For Freelancers In 2025? Here's What Freelancers Are Doing Differently to land $200-$1.5k Freelance Projects
So what does work then? Is it still possible to land clients as a freelancer? What platforms work nowadays? I'm sure we can all relate to this, right... Outreaching can feel like just one big maze that everyone else somehow got the map to but you... And with all the noise nowadays it starts to blend into one big, confusing blur of... “this doesn’t work” or “clients aren’t replying” and “maybe this was a bad idea” or worse ''should I just give up' And I get that! I really do because I have experienced this exact thing myself. Because when you’re surrounded by ''gurus'' showing off these perfect outreach scripts and £10k wins in their first week, it’s incredibly easy to fall into that trap. From my personal experience landing multiple clients as a freelancer, and helping other in this group do the same, the only thing that’s actually “broken” is not outreach. It's not instagram, It's not facebook, It's not skool, It's not linked in... It's the expectation these influencers have put in your mind. That your first 1, 10, 20, 50, 100 cold DMs should land you a dream client... That if you haven’t made £1k by week two, or within the first month of starting, you’re doing it wrong. That if it doesn’t work fast, it doesn’t work at all. That if your from a certain country, it doesn't work for you. What if the real issue wasn’t that “nothing works”… Here’s what no one seems to talk about that genuinely changed everything for me: What starts as “just trying to figure out how to get clients”… Turns into waiting. And that waiting for the perfect message, the perfect platform, the perfect time... it slowly becomes this 'thing' that never actually happens. (I waited like that for longer than I’d like to admit.) So when I made that TINY DECISION to stop waiting to feel “ready'' and just start was when I started landing clients at $700MRR, $1.5KMRR, $2KMRR… And eventually cracked my first $5K+MRR project. That’s how I finally crossed into five-figures. Now, here's some gems that we shared in the Freelance Fast-track lives this week that I wanted to let you guys in on:

This Community Is Too Powerful to Stay Quiet
I’ve been thinking… this community is packed with brilliant minds, hidden talents, and stories that NEED to be heard. But many of us are still quiet. So here’s a little spark to get us talking: What’s ONE lesson you’ve learned recently that changed the way you think, work, or live? It could be a quote, a mindset shift, a business hack, or just a simple life experience. Let’s make this space feel alive. If you read this, LIKE it so others can see it too.We grow by sharing, not staying silent.

Looking at many successful business people, one of the many things I noticed is they take their health seriously. In the last 10 months I've changed my diet. I recently got a walking pad for my standing desk. The weight loss has been slow but I've gotten a significant boost in energy & easily doubled my ability to focus. It's definitely been an unlock.
Not like every motivational post you've read before
If you feel de-motivated, If you feel stuck, If you feel lost, If you feel like things are taking way longer than they should, If you feel like your not making progress no matter how you try, If you question giving up sometimes If you feel let down because you haven't hit your goals yet even though your seeing others crushing it, Forget about all of that, THIS is might just change your world, Now, this is not gonna be that post where it's just affirmations, or someone shouting at you do "Do mOrE", This is something you've probably never seen before. Because when I saw this, it really made me think differently about my entrepreneurial journey. (Warning: This will be a long post, but a worth it one, just hold on with me here) So I just watched a movie yesturday with my family, It's called piece by piece, And it's Pharrel williams life story, (the guy who many the song: because I'm happyyyyy & minions music double life) Told in the form of LEGO. It's how he went from zero, broke, being told he couldn't succeed, he was "odd" To being one of the greatest artist known today, Actually, he's considered a music LEGEND. Now there was 3 particular moments in the movie that really sunk deep for me, No other artist... No entrepreneur... And no content creator has inspired me like pharrel has after I saw this... I won't spoilt the whole movie, that's for you to discover, But I'll tell you what really sunk with me. 👉 The fact that it took him 5 years JUST to start gaining traction He went to every artist he could find and asked everyone on the street to listen to his music, and got a bunch of NO's. Like a thousand no's.... After 5 years of making music, collecting beats, he got so many no's, so many rejections, so many "your not ready"s Nothing was working. But he was PERSISTANT, determined. If it meant jumping and stomping on the producers desk to get his point across, he did it Knocked on EVERY door. Imagine he he gave up on year 2, or year 3 or year 4...

Thanks for the recommendation! I just watched. I’ve been a fan of Pharrell from the beginning and there was still a lot that I didn’t know. Very impactful.
