Working with a single stereo file, tips/ideas?
So this past Monday I had a orientation/mix review call with Joseph, who is fantastic btw! The mix in question was a live, single take performance of an acid house track. The emotion & arc of the piece was awesome, but the kick drum was lacking any body/punch in the actual recording. Sub was there on the 303, but no oomph on the kick. The performance was so good overall, I wanted to see if I could finish it somehow. So I did an overdub of the TR707 kick to a separate track, and mixed the song using what I know (still learning) of the Foundation Method… as best I could with just a stereo file & a kick drum track. I thought it turned out pretty well, which Joseph in turn confirmed. I got a lot closer to a great mix than I would have thought possible given limited options!! That really surprised me. So obviously after that I’ve been thinking of all the tricks one could develop to deal with extreme limitations. Made me curious what yall have done out there to solve similar problems? Ever dealt with nothing but a 2-track mix? Or a very low number of stems? If so what did you do?
What's your business goal?
With the Studio Launch Challenge coming up next week (info here) I thought it would be fun to get an idea of what everyone here is working towards. Answer below!

While I’m mostly referring to my own music, I chose a “consistent part time income” because I am very interested in succeeding with our live act, selling vinyl records, and merch. I am also interested mixing & mastering & remixing services for like minded artists. The caveat being I’d like to stay within my favorite genres: acid house, electro, techno, industrial/EBM, experimental/ambient, etc.
Renewed Motivation
Been away for a while. I’ve had motivational issues. I felt like giving it all up and just becoming a couch potato. lol! I have made up my mind and I will not let that happen. Welcome back home motivation!!! Let’s start making music that’s alive again!!! Here is a fresh, new original fresh from the command post!

Struggling with these feelings myself. Thanks for the transparency, makes me feel less alone.
Is this real, or a mistake, or something else ?
Hi, I just had an email, supposedly from Mastering.com saying... Hey there, Rob here from Mastering.com. I'd love to get your thoughts on your recent purchase: NYC Drums Would you be open to leaving a quick review? If so, here's your unique link: https://courses.mastering.com/review?product=31 Thanks for your time, it's much appreciated. Cheers, Rob CEO - Mastering.com You were sent this email because you recently purchased a product from Mastering.com. I've NOT purchased NYC Drums or anything else, so why would I get this? Any thoughts?
