Day 1 of the 5 Day Challenge!
It’s your first day! Congrats for taking the challenge. Comment “day 1” on this post so we can cheer you on and get cracking in the course in the classroom! In our first video lesson in the course we are looking at learning the melody to Lady Be Good by ear and committing it to memory, using it to bounce off of with some improv. Use this thread to ask any question or post your progress video when you have practised the steps in the video. Happy practising

workin on Foggy day, trying to find new licks and new ways to play something interesting in general. lately i started applying one thing into my playing- once i learn something new and interesting(enclosure sequence or a lick) in a specific key, i immediately try to put it in some standart in the same key. seems to stick longer in my brain that way...
Daily Practise Check In
I'm trying something out. You might remember the single practice thread we've used in the past. Instead, there'll now be a new practice check-in post each day of the week, where you can let us know what you're up to. Just drop a comment with what you're working on today. It can be a sentence, a quick video, or even just a 🎻 to say you showed up. I'll be reading them all and cheering you on. Let's see how many days in a row we can keep it going! Let's start today! Il show you how in the comments. Matt.

How to use this community
How to use this community 1. INTRODUCE YOURSELF Copy this format and comment below: - your name - where you're from - your musical background - what you're trying to achieve in your playing 2. START LEARNING If you are new to jazz, take my "5 Days To Improv" challenge. Its a free course that helps you make your first steps into jazz improv. Learning the ropes and delving into how a jazz musician thinks, practises and plays. If you really want to progress, you can get hold of the larger paid courses in there too "Jazz Violin Fundamentals", "10 Tunes You Must Know", "46 Lines", "Mastering Chromatics" 3. KEEP A PRACTISE DIARY Head over to the pinned Practise Diaries thread and drop your first check-in. It could be something from a 1-1, something from Practice Club, or just whatever you're working on that day. It's the easiest way to keep showing up in here, and every like you get on a check-in is a point towards levelling up and unlocking more of the material. BONUS There's a poll below this post. Let me know what you're most interested in improving in your playing, it helps me shape the material in here

@Lotte Cutts yeah i know what u mean, i never learn the whole transkript anyway, as im too lazy to do so,but going through that and picking+implementing bits and pieces seems to work for me, thx 🙏

@Matt Holborn It’s actually interesting how things like Parker and that next generation of jazz are like a totally different universe compared to the classic jazz stuff from 30s or 40s etc. And it actually puts completely different demands on a person. Especially when it comes to rhythm, because you can really see it here, how I’m constantly behind the beat 🙂 but it’s fun, it’s a new challenge.🤟
