Write something
AI can already do 80% of the editing. The problem is control.
AI is actually pretty good at getting you most of the way there. The frustrating part is when it gives you something that’s almost right. Wrong moment. A few seconds too long. Wrong framing. It cuts something you wanted to keep. Or you simply want a very specific kind of output. That’s how we think about DF Editor. The goal isn’t to let AI take over the whole edit. The goal is: let AI do the first 80% quickly, then give the editor full control over the last 20%. Tell it exactly what you want. “Find clips about this topic.” “Give me 30–45 second clips.” “Start later.” “Remove this sentence.” “Keep this part.” “Make it tighter.” And when AI gets close, you can still manually fine-tune the result instead of starting over. Another thing we really wanted: work locally. Podcast and video projects can easily be 5–10GB. Uploading all of that to a browser tool just to start working is annoying. With DF Editor, the footage stays on your computer. AI helps you work with it without needing to upload the whole project first.

Let’s not overcomplicate clipping
The main goal of a clip is simple: make people want to watch the full episode. - You don’t need 20 effects, crazy captions, constant zooms or B-roll every 2 seconds. - If the moment is good, don’t kill it with editing. - Find something that makes people curious, surprised, interested or makes them want to hear the rest. - Then keep it clean. For me, a good clip is basically a trailer for the full conversation. Don’t explain everything. Leave something for the episode.
